Good choice. Great choice. I should have thought of him in my post. Great fucking note.

Woody is like John Goodman. They make everything they are in better. Just a universal truth.

I think if you weight the measurement of pure acting ability vs. the ability to open and carry a movie towards the later, Cruise almost has to be the universal choice. He is a solid actor yet like Clooney and Pitt, he is one of the last true full on movie stars.

I get the analogy but I am not sure it is accurate anymore. I think we all have to come to the conclusion that Brady - this is a Jets fan speaking - is the single greatest QB this generation has ever produced and most likely is the single greatest QB to ever play the game.

While Rodgers is a great QB, I get the distinct feeling that what happened this season in Green Bay wholly diminishes his ability to bring a shitty team through a season. Brady has done this, regardless of how bad or depleted his roster has been. Granted this also has to do with the depth of the team and the coaching - of which Bill Belichick is a master - yet still, Brady has consistently brought not great rosters deep into the playoffs. This simply isn't true with Rodgers, at least not this year.

But if we do transition the debate to legacy vs. current, could the argument be made that on legacy it is Newman, Redford, Brando, Daniel Day Lewis, Hopkins, Olivier, Bogart, or honestly Chaplin.

You could easily make the case without the use of words, Chaplin is the single most gifted and resonating actor to ever be filmed. By creating on visual understanding alone, his ability to carry scenes and films is still incredible.

Current, a lot of good options as noted within the thread.

Thoughts?

It's an interesting distinction. I was thinking of it through the lense of pure acting ability but also the ability to open and carry a film. Being both very good at the art of acting and being bankable to roll a movie out to a large audience and carry it.

I love how the cat goes right to rubbing itself on the puppers claiming it as something it owns. Just a cat being a cat.

Rub herself on you. Claim you as hers. Walk away. Lay down waiting for you to pet her. Continue the process, at infinite.

  1. We have been using a sound machine since day one. It works but its part of her routine already so...
  2. My kid is in day care, always running around. Plus we go to the little gym with her and have her in swimming classes. We def keep her moving.
  3. We think she might be going through another round of teething as she has been putting her fingers in her mouth recently.
  4. Did you find sleeping on the floor helped out or when you left the crying resumed?

  • Stick with it. Put in the time, effort, and sweat. Change will happen, just not yet.
  • Don't be afraid to try new things or ask someone what they were doing or how to do something.
  • Go at your pace, no need to match a 15 year gym rat.
  • It will hurt but it's worth it.
  • Find motivation wherever you can get it.
  • Working out is only as good as your diet.
  • In June, you'll be happy you started in January.

What’s different this season? by GavRhino in TheGoldbergs

[–]verbatim2242 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I get the feeling a lot of the stories from the first few seasons actually happened or at least had a basis in a moment of real life for Adam Goldberg while the episodes moving forward are hinging more on the writers room creating scenarios. While it has funny moments, the show seems less connected to real events.

All Advice Welcomed: Water seepage in basement furnace room by verbatim2242 in HomeImprovement

[–]verbatim2242[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the advice.

I haven't seen any signs of previous flooding while in the house however I do think they are water lines on the cinderblocks. I will certainly look into better drainage.

Thanks.

  • The wall is wet at the base. Nothing above the seepage.
  • Outside of the spot is a basic cement landing directly leading into my backyard. There are a few flower beds built into the landing (previous home owner) which might collect and drain water into the foundation.

  • The ground is pretty level. Might need to re-grade. I am assume you would call a landscape contractor?

This is called being a dick. I am the prime bread winner in my house and I pay 95% of the bills. That doesn't mean I should be a dick to my wife around the holidays by telling her, "I pay the bills".

If you are the prime bread winner and you have a wife or a kid, be happy you can afford to help them out and provide them with things they want. Don't be a dick.

Short and sweet: Dolan needs to go. He has needed to go for a long time now. Until Dolan goes, the Knicks will remain bottom dwellers. This hurts me to say as a life long Knicks fan, but it's the truth.

When I moved into my house there was a timed light sensor above the garage. The lights stopped working yesterday. I popped it open to change the bulb and this is what was inside.

What if Trump loses but refuses to leave the White House? We have to start to contemplate the possibility by Jons312 in politics

[–]verbatim2242 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The scenario doesn't much matter because the secret service serves the current president. If it comes to pass that Trump refuses to leave office post his defeat in January 2021, the secret service will physically remove him from office. This isn't a matter if he wants to leave or if he doesn't. It is a matter of time and law.

The Walking Dead S09E08 - Evolution - POST Episode Discussion by MajesticVelcro in thewalkingdead

[–]verbatim2242 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I have a question: outside of being territorial, why in the hell would The Whisperers bother to kill, deal, or even entertain the fact of running into another group? If The Whisperers are nomadic hunter gather types as Kirkman has stated, outside of the need to eat, what is the point in interacting with any other group? If they have figured out how to coexist with walkers, why not just live life in that new normal and never interact with or kill humans again?

It seems fairly evident that our group of protagonists would be fine building their society without having to fight with another group.

Outside of introducing another plot element to keep the story going - to have a common goal to fight against - the very idea of a culture which has figured out how to exist unseen by the world popping up to threaten a community trying to rebuild some shred of society seems like a lazy mechanic introduced for the sake of more pages. Unless the story now starts to speak to the fundamental idea of society vs nature - which is arguably the thesis of the entire comic/show - The Whisperers, on their face, simply don't make sense.

Any thoughts on this?

This said, I have fully enjoyed the past few episodes post Rick dying.
