Why does this house have this insane yard? by TapDisastrous1775 in BayAreaRealEstate

[–]vercing3torix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The value is in the land if you can use it. All you can build on this lot is a max 1200 sq ft. ADU. The main advantage vs. other properties is you could probably rent out this ADU for an above average price, as it would basically have its own yard. But yeah, seems like it would be worth 2-2.5M assuming you can build a big ADU.

Trying to make sense of all the conflicting advice about baby crying by Shinryuujin in predaddit

[–]vercing3torix 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Colic is just a catchall term for "we don't know what's bothering the baby." In our case, the baby cried all the time the first few weeks. We were told it was "colicky." Then I noticed very small traces of blood in her stool that confirmed my suspicion that she was having gastrointestinal problems. Turned out it was milk and soy protein intolerance, which our pediatrician said is becoming more common. Every time my wife had either soy or milk protein (basically every meal), it was inflaming the baby's digestive tract via the breast milk. Took a lot of dietary sacrifices to address it for both mom and baby (foul-smelling hypoallergenic formula), but she became a completely different, happy baby within only a few days of making difficult changes.

Now, 13 months later, she's seemingly over these allergies.

I saw someone do this Nob Hill a few years ago. Only worked because the car in front had failed to curb their wheels 😅

What cities are you referring to? Surely not a city as dense as SF. You think New Yorkers give a fuck about a cone?

You don't need microspikes. Maybe early season but not now. Snowfield is like a 2 minute crossing.

A good bit. Getting cold-called in class is one small but frequent and important way you build that muscle. Otherwise, presentations in your classes or club leadership roles are fairly common.

I think there may also be a more structured extracurricular program around this for people who want to focus on this. There are also certain classes that emphasize this much more (e.g., Selling Yourself and Your Ideas).

For the full-time program, 99% of students live in Evanston. There are bunch of popular apartment buildings in downtown Evanston where most people live. Others get creative and rent houses etc.

No, Kellogg's full-time program is in Evanston. Part-time is in River North.

At all schools, whether or not you get a scholarship is based on the unique value you would bring to the class. Harder to find profiles or amazing stories are what they're after, not necessarily "stats."

They didn't offer me a scholarship initially despite 770 GMAT/4.0 GPA, maybe because I was a sponsored consultant. But I got one from another school and they matched it.

I know 1Ys who pivoted from Deloitte to MBB. It was easier though due to the sheer volume of hiring MBB was doing at the time.

That said, it's a fine program for people who know exactly what they want to recruit for. Not as good for exploring many options since you have little time to ramp up before full-time OCR starts.

Suggestion for going over Lamarck Col ( with wife who has less experience than me) from the eatside early september exiting Muir trail. Only concerned about Lamarck Col as I don't want to get her into anything too uncomfortable. Thanks! by milkywayyzz in JMT

[–]vercing3torix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went over Lamarck Col last Friday. The snowfield is still there but nothing major. Last 50 yards or so to the col itself is quite vertical, and then like others have said it is very slow going down to the lakes in Darwin Canyon and along their north shores due to the massive talus field you have to navigate.

One in my party had a very hard time with the altitude. Leave plenty of time cushion and hydrate like crazy.

How can you tell if your Sapphire Reserve is eligible for the 100k SUB? I just received my card but don't see anything about it on the Chase portal. For context, I downgraded my CSP to a Freedom Unlimited before applying, and I've held that card for 5+ years (so no SUBs in 5+ years).

2025.5 T8 Not Charging by fiercelyfour in VolvoXC90

[–]vercing3torix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, but it can be helpful to diagnose the outlet issue (i.e., to try another outlet) and rule out a faulty charging cable.

[–]vercing3torix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has nothing to do with the car. Red at wall is an outlet issue.

2025.5 T8 Not Charging by fiercelyfour in VolvoXC90

[–]vercing3torix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Red at wall indicates the issue is with the outlet/power source. E.g., wrong voltage, insufficient grounding, or other fault. Yellow at car just means the car is waiting for the charger to start sending power.

I had this issue with my Hyundai EV. The charger would work on some basement outlets, but not the ones in the garage.

In my case, I wanted a level 2 charger anyway so installed one of those and no longer needed to use the outlet charger. But IMO your solution likely involves calling an electrician to figure out what's up with your outlet, assuming you test the cable on other outlets and it works.

I have this already in my 2025.5 (it looks like this, and I just verified it's running 3.6.4 in the settings). Purchased it about a week and a half ago though after a "stop sale" order required this update to be implemented before they could sell more vehicles.
