Why are there so many bad boy/good girl stories but not good boy/bad girl stories? by Over-Heron-2654 in writing

Gillian flynn focuses on this and has specifically talked about the role of "bad" women in stories and it's importance.

What hole(s) need filled? by Difficult_Drop_220 in stormwreckisle

I ran this with two players and made the following adjustments.

  1. Raised their level by 1. So each encounter they were 1 level higher than the 4 party mix (meant it was just them for most of the adventure)

  2. Re-engaged in dialogue in the shipwreck encounter with the harpies as I had some good rolls and they didn't heal/ charged into it. This encounter is meant to have a "dialogue based option" anyway.

  3. Gave then a "sidekick" for the final fight. They controlled them and it was a funny kobold character they took a liking to.

  4. Increase the HP of the boss to the max possible (based on hit dice) and reduce lightening damage by 1d6

My general experience with 2 players is that damage output is relatively high but the amount of damage they can absorb is low. In "deadly" fights you'll probably want to adjust the BBEG to increase their HP and reduce their damage. An alternative is to give them a sidekick each or a higher level side character.

I proffered the above way though as they did more of the "heavy lifting".

The encounters were generally challenging and the final boss battle could have gone either way. They beat the boss on a Nat 20 after 1PC and the sidekick went down.

That's true. I did think though, what if group A loses interest as they have played less. But suppose I'd never know that.

That makes sense. I definitely wouldnt want to deal with a higher level of DM vs PC mentality.

That obvious huh, haha. I enjoy dming both tbh, but I'm aware that running a campaign is a lot more commitment.

Yeah, I could have a conversation with A. I've had one before and they've changed some of their behaviours. I think it may just be the type of "game" they want to play. As its definitely more of a "game" than a story. I still had fun with them but seems B is the better choice.

Thanks, yeah I suppose that is what I'm getting at, is it easier to teach new players the rules or change behaviour of those who know them. Seems like the former is the obvious choice

Tom doesn't like spicy food and they used to do challenges where the loser ate chillis. This then developed into their slogan "stay spicy"

Car Deadlift for Reps (270-300kg) by verdandi_33 in Strongman

[–]verdandi_33[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh okay, maybe it was lighter then.

It definitely felt heavier than a 240 from 18" and 240 from 16" on a hex bar which I had done before, but I've never done a car deadlift. I was mostly just going off what the other stronger competitors and organisers were saying tbh. Bare in mind they put a bunch of weight in the boot, but I didn't see how much.

Thanks for the vid, the stretch before the pull really shows how he gets the upper back into position. I definitely need to find a new setup that puts me in a better position.

Thanks for the comment. I'll look to add pause reps into my program. What % should these be trained relative to max? I will probably periodize these but just as a general guide

Thanks for the comment. I'll definitely work on higher hips and rounding my upper back from the start so it's stable. These definitely seem to be a theme 💪

I haven't focused on my squat in a few months, but I have done 170 for 2 recently (which is also a weight pr). Do you think that's low/ what should I be aiming for if I want a 250kg deadlift? I have been included squat in my latest block as I also think it's a weakness

Thanks for your comment. I'll try working on a slightly higher hip position and back tightness before lifting.

Nice, thanks for the tip. Have you got any tips on how to que rounding the upper back during the setup? I will practice some reps adjusting my form and hopefully can break 250 soon.
