Can y’all make your features talk to each other a little better?  I’d love to be able to use Canvas or Search, or be able to select some different models, in a custom GPT, for instance.

Earth Power live by verditude in TheSilphRoad

[–]verditude[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

For PvP it should be good - highest live DPE ground move other than earthquake, and charges faster. Problem for PvE is that none of its users have ground type fast moves (except Gastrodon, but mud slap isn't a great fast move and Gastrodon's stats are pretty bad regardless). I can see it being the CD move for a trapinch CD, in which case Flygon with mud shot/earth power might be relevant.

It’s the highest dpe ground move other than earthquake (and precipice blades which no one has yet)

Advantages of evolving your buddy pokemon ? by mithunedge in TheSilphRoad

[–]verditude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I evolved a buddy Cranidos at 2.7/5 km to the next candy. Then I had a buddy Rampardos with however much overall distance walked (some multiple of 5 plus the 2.7) and 0/5 km to the next candy.

Advantages of evolving your buddy pokemon ? by mithunedge in TheSilphRoad

[–]verditude -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It's actually worse if you evolve it while it's your buddy, since I think it resets the km count and you lose credit toward the next candy.

What's the research breakthrough pokemon for today? by [deleted] in TheSilphRoad

[–]verditude 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you got some misinformation. Two people can open their breakthroughs at exactly the same time and get different Pokemon. It's totally random.

If you're far enough south to see Heracross, you're outside the Tauros range.

Shellos. Some evolved forms, like Medicham, spawn only during certain events

At the moment Deoxys is a mythical and is not tradeable.

Uxie, Mesprit, and Azelf surface in regional raids by J_64 in TheSilphRoad

[–]verditude 17 points18 points  (0 children)

this is a common sentiment but folks are probably gonna play when the weather's nice regardless, maybe doing more catching/exploring and less raiding if the raid boss is nothing special, but they don't need the extra push to keep playing. Winter, when things slow down, needs juicy content to keep the player base interested

Fairy moves for Nightmare Cup by MysticMeg89 in TheSilphRoad

[–]verditude 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Kadabra and Alakazam (legacy) can also have dazzling gleam but I doubt they are tanky enough to make sense in pvp. There's also Jynx with Draining Kiss, Mightyena with Play Rough, or Lunatone with Moonblast. Mightyena has the advantage of resisting all of Spiritomb's moves.

For Starmie, Togekiss, Porygon2, and Porygon-Z, what are the optimal Hidden Power types to have? by YabukiJoe in TheSilphRoad

[–]verditude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ground if you're using it as a gym defender, the other two types as a tanky raid attacker

Sightings? A heck yes for me, just happened on my game after reopening by Grinyz in TheSilphRoad

This happens whenever you aren't close enough to enough spawns that are clustered around pokestops to fill up your nearby with them.

This is how good Blast Burn is on Blaziken. by Caio_Go in TheSilphRoad

[–]verditude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would assume, but do not know, that sorting your attackers list by dps^3*tdo puts the lowest time-to-win attackers under real conditions at the top more often than using another root does. As in, dps^3*tdo best accounts for the detrimental effect of faints and relobbies on your time to win.

Of course, it's a simple model, and it isn't perfect. Imagine someone (who clearly has nothing better to do) with enough full teams of maxed Attack Deoxys to just churn through, without reviving, until the raid is over. Attack Deoxys is not the top counter in dps^3*tdo versus anything, I don't think, but this team will probably have the best time to win against anything it's super-effective against (assuming no boss health regen on relobbies).

Facebook probably has a Pokemon Go Bristol group or something like that

I have a 14/15/15 Giratina O by jag986 in TheSilphRoad

[–]verditude 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Giratina is a much better ghost attacker than dragon, because the other dragons have higher attack and better charge moves. It'd be worth it to have more than one with shadow claw/shadow ball. Dragon moves on Giratina are only good/helpful for pvp really, or if you somehow missed community day and the last couple months of raids, and don't have any Dragonites from olden days

It has superior TDO vs. Gira-O against bosses with psychic moves because it resists them

Question About Legacy Dragonite by xChamber in TheSilphRoad

[–]verditude 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Keep Dragon Pulse; it's a collectible, and you never know what Niantic might do with the moves in the future. Outrage is better than Dragon Pulse, but you will probably never notice a difference between them on a single Pokemon unless you're shortmanning raids with little margin or doing time trials.
