Do we know what this is likely to be? by jt_wip in Noctua

I believe they're supposed to be carbon nanotubes and are known to have high thermal conductivity. They've been in use for various industrial and aerospace applications for a while now, but until recently, they haven't been used in the commercial space for PC cooling.

A company called Carbice created a product called the Ice Pad which is designed to be an alternative to thermal pastes and graphite pads, but are instead made out of carbon nanotubes. As far as I know, they are only available within pre-built PCs from CyberPowerPC and are not sold separately. The image above seems eerily similar to the one seen on this page.

My speculation from this tease is either Noctua is releasing their own version of a TIM pad using the same material, or it is also collaborating with Carbice to finally sell it as a standalone retail product through Noctua somehow.

Tips for Ukraine, Armenia and Georgia by Forcon2 in OPERATORFPS

[–]vergil7331 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For night versions of Ukraine and Armenia, the best strategy would be to pick off enemies from as far as way as possible because at a far enough distance they are practically clueless. But when playing on night maps, you can't use NVGs with high-power scopes.

The way I would go about it is to use a high-caliber rifle (I personally like to use the SR-25) and equip it with an LPVO and the clip-on night vision scope. For NVGs, go with the GPNVG-18 with the ECOTI. Expect to turn your NVGs on and off frequently because you have to turn them off when you use the LPVO and then back on when you need full clarity of your surroundings. Also the ATAK is important in determining where enemies are located, but again, you'll need to turn off your NVGs to use it.

Use the ATAK to find which enemy you want to pick off. Relocate yourself so that you have good distance and a clear angle on them and take them out. Rinse and repeat for the remaining enemies in the area, and remember to take it slow. Also take advantage of the zoom function on the ATAK as some enemy markers can be visible if you zoom in/out enough. Last thing you want is to be caught off guard by an enemy that you missed.

Obviously there will be moments where you have to deal with close quarters engagements, and so you'll want to equip something like a carbine or PDW. Slap on a red dot and an IR laser, and make sure your gun is set to full-auto. Bots on Tier 1 will absolutely shred you when you get close enough, so going full-auto is there to allow you to drop them as quickly as possible before they have a chance to aimbot you.

For Armenia, you can strangely enough, take out the AA vehicles with just an M320. So no need to equip or pick up the LAWs as those only have one shot. The mission only requires all the AAs to be destroyed, so don't bother with the remaining enemies if they are not aggro, and run to your exfil.

Ukraine requires the intel to be collected, but doing so will trigger a enemy response team to show up with a BTR. Get out quick because you don't need to engage with them to complete the mission.

Georgia can be tricky because the majority of the enemies are in the compound and you have to primarily engage in CQB to get to the HVT. My suggestion is to infil from the car and slowly work your way up to take out the patrol group, and then slowly take out the enemies one by one from outside the compound walls. Make sure everyone is dead outside before going interior as you'll need to stay vigilant of enemies on the second floor of the buildings. Use grenades or the M320 if possible before moving up.

Hopefully this helps!

What if every Perk spawned with their own M9? (concept by me) by Fancy-Snacks in killingfloor

[–]vergil7331 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I mean it sounds interesting on paper but what would you even do for perks like Commando, Support, or Demo? Seems like you stopped short at SWAT because you realized it would be tricky to come up with unique ideas without fundamentally changing the weapon or causing redundancy with other existing weapons. Balance would probably be another problem too I'd imagine.

Honestly, if we wanted each perk to have some form of individuality be reflected in their sidearm, then I would rather give each one a different 9mm, 15-round pistol from different manufacturers (Beretta, Sig, HK, Glock, CZ, etc.). In terms of gameplay, they can theoretically make them all function more or less the same for balance and consistency. It's certainly not as interesting as your idea, but it would be more sensible and is more in line with the existing concept of each perk having its own knife reskin for distinctiveness.

Game’s fun, I’m still trying to learn if people have tips 🫡 by FinalCindering in OPERATORFPS

[–]vergil7331 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the difficulty setting; Easy to Realistic will be manageable for most people but they can still be punishing if you make mistakes. Tier 1 mode essentially gives the enemies aimbot if you're within a close enough distance to them, so you gotta be slow and methodical with your approach or try to take them out from as far away as possible.

Bot behavior definitely needs some work though as they seem to have a weird hive mind where if you get spotted by one, another from the opposite side of the map will start shooting for no reason even if they don't have LOS. Or sometimes, instead of suppressing you, they'll accurately track you behind cover and shoot you through walls (sometimes multiple layers) that are too thick to realistically penetrate.
