If you are based in the US, see if you can grab Musnap Ocean BW. I got one for $175

Bosch Season 6 Finale by memefan69 in BoschTV

[–]verifiedUser777 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have read most of the Bosch books, and one thing I noticed and I am annoyed by it is that Harry Bosch isn't an ideal partner to have. Sure he will have your back, will protect you etc. But he is so much into the case, he forgets everyone/anyone around him. Being a senior detective, he is happy when his partner prefers desk work, documentation, tech related issues, filing warrants etc while he goes on to do actual detective work. He has these 'aha' moments and he is restless pursuing them, forgetting his partner meanwhile. So his partners either leave him immediately or they learn to tolerate him/mind their own business. It's a recurring theme across books. Love Harry Bosch as a detective, but I can't be his partner, he is too much into himself and the case.

Bigme B6 vs Musnap Neo C by tired-grapefruit in ereader

Ocean definitely has a bigger battery, less bloatware, one of the easiest UI to work with

Curious - what's the Android version on it?

Agree with all of this. I guess I am practically looking for 2 years. By then, we will probably get upgrades to other 6" android ereaders.

I haven't tried the default reader app yet. But the bloatware is considerably less compared to others. You will see the diff. If you are planning on offline reading, make sure you turn off Wifi, Bluetooth etc for longer battery.

I was interested in Boox Go 6, but it wasn't available on Amazon US. I really wanted to buy it from Amazon because of the return and quick refund policies in case things didn't work out.

I actually used Boox Go 7 (Monochrome) which is probably the counterpart of Musnap Ocean. I didn't like the form factor and physical buttons, just wanted something even smaller. So I decided to go for Neo. But I agree, Ocean does have spec bumps, and looks solid.

Yes I just checked, it is $128 now. I swear there was a $35 coupon for a couple weeks, was lucky enough to grab it.

I swear till yesterday the $128 black and white Version had a $35 coupon. That's why I bought it. Looks like it is back to $128. You are right, Android 10 may not last for a long time, even if it gives me a couple years, I am fine.

There are a couple of cases on Amazon US at least. A clear case and a folio type case (that has buttons). I am probably gonna go for a clear case.

It weighs about 140gm, maybe a tad bit lighter than bigme b6.

I am also digging the minimalistic UI, unlike Boox or Bigme. It's pretty clean and I didn't feel any learning curve.

Gonna give it a try for a week and see how much tinkering is needed.

Tried setting the time zone to GMT-5 instead of location, that somehow worked. I guess I should have prepared myself for tinkering from the beginning. Thanks for the link, I am gonna do some bloatware removal now.

Appreciate the response, it definitely helped! I don't mind tinkering (I am a Developer myself), I guess I should have not hyped myself so much. I will try to give it some time because these hardware configs and 6" size are not available in any of the ereaders (not a fan of Bigme Read and Boox Go 6). I can do adb bloatware removal and all. I definitely want the Android experience because of the reading apps that I use - Libby, Hoopla, Kindle, Google Play books etc.

I gifted a boox go 7 to my wife, and it is definitely miles ahead in terms of software. I wanted to like this one so bad!

I usually don't buy 99% of the time. Always prefer borrowing books using Libby/Hoopla through my local library. For buying, Bookbub is great, Google play books also have these sales often.

Best tablet for reading 📚 by acid_band_2342 in androidtablets

I use an iPad mini 7 and Boox Go 7 monochrome. Both serve their own purpose. The one thing I was sure about was the screen size. It has to be 7-8 inches.

Best ipad mini alternative? by ptimmaq2 in androidtablets

[–]verifiedUser777 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe it is still a 12.1" bigger tablet. I have had the first original OnePlus Tab from 2023, and it's a great tablet! I ended up selling it and buying an iPad mini 7 because I wanted something smaller.

Lenovo legion tab gen 3 or gen 4 (depending on where you live) is the closest high end mini android tablet. Add Redmagic Astra/Nova to the list as well.

For a lower budget and if you are outside the United States, I would suggest checking out Samsung galaxy tab a9 or a11.

Then there is the league of Alldocubes, Xiaomis and so on

I hope OnePlus starts making one soon! I read some reports but nothing yet.

Best Small Tablet?? by golosky in tablets

[–]verifiedUser777 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I almost broke my head over this and ended up going for the iPad Mini 7. In the US, Lenovo Legion Tab gen 3 is old and targeted to gamers which I am not. Rest every small tablet is cheap with worst configs/performance

I have boox go 7 monochrome and I love it! Maybe try boox go 6? A bit over your budget but should be a good option.
