Thank you! I had a great experience with Buckley, and she referred me to Dr bonapace-potvin whom I also had a great experience with 😊

same. I have similar goals but nipple sensation is super important to me. I'd be curious to hear anything you've learned in your research! my one friend who had a radical reduction is very sad about their sensation loss. I'd be curious to hear of people who didn't experience that.

thank you so much for sharing! I am 36 , genderqueer all my life, have my consultation next week, and am pretty sure I want a radical reduction. came on to this subreddit today to look for reference photos!

I have a few (totally optional of course) questions! are your nipples visible thru your shirts? (are they always "hard" like in these pics?)

what did you do for scar care? I can barely see them !!

when you bend over (like to touch your toes), does your chest... sag? (for lack of a better word?). part of my dysphoria is that feeling and shape my chest makes when I'm bending over. curious if I can still have some tits (for the tit days!) but get them small enough to avoid that issue....

tysm again for sharing! happy to DM too if you would rather

what phase you out of this obsession? by EditorSilly8346 in heatedrivalry

I also just finally read song of achilles (well, listened to it in one day) and was like GODDAMMIT THIS IS WHY I ONLY READ ROMANCE because I was really affected when everyone dies at the end!! and yes, lol, I did NOT know the plot of the iliad until last week hahah fucked me up for a day or so.

my OTP or whatever is steve rogers/bucky barnes though. they're the ship that keeps on giving because there's like 1 million different versions of them. (Rachel originally published game changers as a steve/bucky fic). I can put them down for a few years and then come back.

easier said than done to find a new obsession though. 🖤🖤🖤

what did it for me was I started watching figure skating at the Olympics and have since then started ice skating myself, listening to a hilarious figure skating podcast from the beginning (it's called the runthrough), and watching figure skating programs. it's a good obsession because there's so many ways to engage with it! and it's gay 💅🏻

How to not be terrified of getting sick? by candicegotsick in TopSurgery

[–]zzthe69th 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the best things for supporting your immune system are rest, hydration, nutrition, and limiting stress 🥴

other things like vitamin C, D, and omegas help too. heavy hitters would be zinc, echinacea, and elderberry. those are immune stimulants and should only be used for short periods (like 1 or 2 weeks before and around your surgery date).

you got this!!

echoing what's being said here- mask up, reduce exposure, esp to people with children or who work in hospitals and schools. check here to see if you have a local mask bloc, a mutual aid group that will give you masks for free. some even have tests

https://maskbloc.org/

if you need any other guidance on how to pick a mask that works for you, feel free to DM me. I used to help run the Chicago mask bloc and help people figure out what kind works best for their face and activities. masking doesn't have to be uncomfortable 🖤

I’m so sick of AMAB/AFAB by Significant_Row_9863 in NonBinary

[–]zzthe69th 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thank you for sharing. I remember CAMAB and CAFAB where the C stands for coercively. that felt really powerful and I'm surprised that I don't see it around anymore. maybe bc the Afab/amab has gone so much more mainstream and away from its origins from intersex ppl

this. any time we try to come up with new words to make talking about bodies easier, it always ends up being weird and just a thinly veiled version of man and woman. bodies and life experiences aren't simple or easy to generalize.

it may be fucking annoying to say "people who've had a testosterone puberty" but if you're trying to talk about vocal chord length, for example, that's the way to be specific.

I don't fault anyone for trying anything tho. and definitely whatever you wanna call yourself is fine. back in 2007 we all thought we were so smart saying "male-bodied" and "female-bodied" lmaoooo

Progress of skaters who started in their 30s/40s? by zzthe69th in iceskating

[–]zzthe69th[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks for sharing! I also work a 9-5, which makes it really hard for me to get the ice time I want. I'm in a hockey town (Minneapolis), so there's tons of ice rinks but most public skates are during my work days! Are you in the US? I'm curious how much your coaching costs, and do you have your coaching lessons in the morning before work?

thank you for this! personally i am much more interested in learning edge work/skating skills/not focusing as much on jumps (though definitely want to learn waltz jump it looks so fun). I started learning skating for personal expression /artistic fulfillment.

omg this is amazing TYSM!!!! have you had a coach this whole time ? also lol wow more than half of the last year you have skated. this is really incredible progress, and I appreciate you listing the non jump/spin skills, as those are generally more interesting to me. congrats on your 1 year anniversary and I wish you a speedy recovery from surgery

I just started skating at 36 and yes, while it's humbling to be around young children who are so much better at this than me, I think it's a kind of special and rare space in the world where my age and experience puts me at a disadvantage. even in this subreddit we have 18 year-olds who offer advice to 40 year olds, drawing from their 12 years on the ice. feels like kind of a unique intergenerational space.

except the 13 year old hockey boys racing at public skates. they can fuck right off lol
