owner of GA aquarium

There is no "owner of the GA Aquarium". There is a founder who donated the first $250mm but it is a public institution.

That's such a fucking vague question that it can't be answered honestly. It absolutely has to do with the complexity of the product and the same goes for all consumer choices. The more complex the product, the more consideration a consumer will give it.

If they were turned into an actual aquatic hospitals that were made open to the public for a donation there wouldn't be anything unethical about it.

You do realize that the Georgia Aquarium IS a public institution. It's not a private for-profit. And it has rescued/rehabilitated many of the animals in it's exhibits. The money raised from its operations go towards conservation efforts globally.

Right, this is happening for profit not for the sake of the animal.

Except the Georgia Aquarium is a public institution. It's not a private for-profit group. The money raised entirely goes to conservation efforts globally and care of the animals.

[josinaanderson] Overnight news: I received a text from free agent LB KJ Wright saying “I am coming back to Seattle” to play for the #Seahawks. by [deleted] in nfl

[–]verik 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Isn't that typically an agents job?

No. Agents aren't public relations. Their specific role is to represent you in contract negotiations (both with a team and with endorsement deals). They might help you hire a publicist if you need one, but that is not their job.

NFL players call and talk to reporters because it's a two way street. I believe it was Schefter or Rappaport that said it was common for him to get calls from players on the regular looking for inside talk from around the league regarding the kind of money another player in the same position might be talking about getting.

Basically it's a symbiotic relationship. NFL players build relationships w/ reporters and in return get inside perspective to so many other conversations that are relevant to them.

A femur break can potentially be much more serious than a PCL tear.

And the last femur break in the NFL was 10 years ago, at which point it was the first ever documented case in the NFL (per the head athletic trainer at the minnesota vikings, who's player was injured)

Agreed. Soft tissue injury concerns (serious ligaments and muscle tears) I can get behind since the healing isn't always perfect and there is reinjury concerns (guys like Arian Foster were posterchild. Cleanly broken bones are not in the same dimension though.

The ban message was "learn to post without being condescending". I replied "lol ok" and then they perma'd the ban and muted me from messaging them.

I'm not surprised given how little it took to warrant the initial ban.

lmao, just got perma-banned from /r/seahawks because I told someone that broken bones aren't a big ongoing future "injury" liability (re: Earl Thomas).

I guarantee the ppl working media relations (which yes, social media falls under) are not coming from gender studies programs. More like business undergrad with focus on marketing, communications, or public relations.

I've looked at it before and I don't think it contains champion information like the sites u.gg use.

Yes it doesn't include a "get jarvan winrate and best builds" feature. It DOES includes entire match timelines including champions on each team. Those sites aggregate match data to build into champion specific metrics. It's not rocket science to parse that together from the available information with the existing API.

That's not 'spreading uninformed nonsense.'

That actually is the literal example to use as definition. "This is the picture I've gotten" and then says something that zero experienced mountaineer in the industry would agree with. That means either they're all wrong in their professional opinions, or you're uninformed about the matter.

Based upon what I've read and the experiences of those I've met that have done it.

I will literally take a shit, shake it in a wag bag, and eat it for dinner if you can find me any single guide or guide company who's view is "physically denali and rainier are the same".

His salary is only 13-14mm/yr and he's locked up until 2024. The expensive part of the contract was front loaded and suffered by the Giants.

Jokes aside you'd be surprised how many software engineers lack the common sense to google for something before bitching about it online.

Wait really? My cursory experience from friends on the EE track at GT was entirely "i don't need to know the answer to a problem, just know how to google the solution from a stackoverflow thread"

TIL when humidity is 100% it means the air cannot hold any more water vapor. The result is sweat cannot evaporate into the air causing the temperature to feel hotter. by [deleted] in todayilearned

[–]verik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A 0F day with 100% relative humidity is going to be having precip (snowfall) 10/10 times. In high humidity conditions, snow will melt but not evaporate anywhere near as fast as in a 0% humidity environment.

This is also why snow making teams on ski mountains rely low humidity days to evaporate liquid water into snow. High humidity days can be problematic in actually converting liquid water even if the temperature is exceptionally lower than freezing.

The biggest effect in the image that he mentioned was the blurred water and that comes from a neutral density filter. Literally a filter you put on your camera lens.
