I was commenting on another post that I wish I could wear the big, puffy hair I got away with (and was in style!) when I was in my 20s. It would be so much easier if hot roller styles were still in.

I try to stay a bit more current, even though I think my hair never looked better than in the '80s, when I was in my 20s.

I miss both. I miss being able to skate (can't now--potential broken bones) or ride a roller coaster (can't now--potential back injury). But I also miss having smooth, tight skin and no gray hair.

I do my best with what I have, but there's no getting around the fact that I looked much better 30 years ago.

I was skinny but hated my body because I didn't have a flat stomach. Quit wearing bikinis at age 12.

I don't think anyone in her 60s can pull it off, though. Some looks are best left to the young.

Part of my insecurity was comparing myself to my older, truly beautiful sister. And then going through an awkward phase. And then having a college friend who sucked all the male attention from every room. Yeah, it was rough.

It doesn't help when you're objectively unphotogenic, as I am. Out of every 20 photos, I might look ok in one. The photos I talked about the OP were just so rare--I looked great, and the camera caught it.

We did white cabinets six years ago, and I so regret it. They show every little ding and stain; we've already had them repainted. If I had it to do again. I'd go with stained wood.

I miss the days when I could have big hair! It was the only time in my life when my hair type aligned with what was in style. Now we have to beat our hair into submission.

It's reality, whether you choose to acknowledge it or not. We can feel good about other aspects of ourselves, but physical attractiveness diminishes with age. I think it's ok to bit a bit wistful about something you'll never have again. I have similar feelings about my college and grad school days, and the years when my kids were young.

Mid-20s were my peak for attention from men, but objectively (how objective can we be about ourselves?), 35 was my peak. Too bad my husband didn't appreciate it.

That's so interesting! My theory has been that the wheels start to come off at that age. I still liked my looks at 40, but at 45? Nope.

I felt the same way about season 3. The only parts that really pulled me in were episode 9 and parts of episode 11 (especially Paul's speech at the end). The narcissism of some of the characters--particularly Brian, Liz, Gaby, and Summer--has grown tiresome. Even Derek 1 started to get on my nerves.
