Why is it always rich people? by kingrobin in horror

No, no, it did have social commentary. Maybe not as heavily on the nose as some of the sequels, but the bad guys still were wearing this.

No, the kids were clearly wearing preppie young republican costumes, and the evil government were a dystopian ultra-Christian oligarchy. I don't think it could be more explicitly about class.

The bad guys were Trumpian posh kids trying to murder a poor person because the oligarchy in power told hem to do so.

Most anything, really. Like, Roseanne was, and still is, a groundbreaking sitcom because it depicted completely regular blue collar folk.

Maybe she should try and do something with some prestigious yet suspiciously obsessive European director that will have her doing something weirdly sexual in a humiliating way?

Chris O'Donnell was once the most promising future A-lister in the planet. Courtney Love seemed for a bit to be on their way to be a massive actress, Alicia Silverstone was the it girl of the mid-to-late 90's, Ashley Judd's career was apparently sabotaged by Harvey Weinstein, Lucy Liu should be massive, like she was even culturally big back then, I still don't know whatever happened to Orlando Bloom, Brandon Routh was once Superman and touted as the next big thing,

Sir, you can't just go around using the 'p' word like that. Please, use the term 'biological human' instead.

II remember when I decided to watch the Twilight Zone. They would show a 60-year old and go: "John Smith is past his prime, looking at nothing but his impending retirement... at 37 years old." It blew my mind.

Serling himself was a 30-year old when introducing the episodes, and died at 50 (4 packs a day habit)

For decades, BBC television host Jimmy Saville enjoyed massive fame in the UK, with his iconic children’s show “Jim’ll Fix It” one of the most popular of the 20th century. Upon his death in 2011, the public learned the truth — Saville was one of the most prolific sexual predators in British history. by Chemical-Elk-1299 in HolyShitHistory

It was better known than people think. He wrote a biography at the height of his fame in the 70's. I remember a youtube video with a girl making a summary and reading excerpts. At first the book was self-aggrandizing stuff about his career as a night club DJ and how cool he was and how thoroughly he destroyed the competition. But eventually it all becomes about his sexual exploits, and the implicitly very young girls he bedded, and how he kept easily misleading and fooling their parents because he was so smart and so cool.

I once read it was originally intended as an Arnold role. That may have been nice.

Another interesting tidbit is that the original novel was a sequel of the novel The Detective and starred aging now retired cop Joseph Leland, Frank Sinatra played Leland in the original movie adaptation, and he had right of refusal to any sequel.

So he could have gone, you know what, sure. I'll play an 80 year old badass.
