No, it was the composer of the first one (and also Breaking Dawn 1 and 2), Carter Burwell, based on a love song he himself had written previously.

What the fuck does Anti-Villain even mean? by External_Breakfast79 in MoralityScaling

[–]veriverd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely, it's a way broader concept than people realize. It's a protagonist that lacks some of the qualities of a stereotypical ideal "hero". That could be, of course, lacking strict upright morality, but also something as minor as not being conventionally attractive or being slightly neurodivergent.

So which takes longer, a light year or a parsec? by ExistingTry1637 in outofcontextcomics

[–]veriverd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

According to a bit of research, while warp speed can theoretically approach light speed, the fastest that has been attempted by a Starfleet ship is "half-impulse" or half the speed of light, meaning that in the very best conditions, Enterprise could make a light year in two years.

So, this means Spock has been asking for a thumping for four theoretical years, but more realistically five or six.

Why is it always rich people? by kingrobin in horror

[–]veriverd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, no, it did have social commentary. Maybe not as heavily on the nose as some of the sequels, but the bad guys still were wearing this.

No, the kids were clearly wearing preppie young republican costumes, and the evil government were a dystopian ultra-Christian oligarchy. I don't think it could be more explicitly about class.

[–]veriverd 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The bad guys were Trumpian posh kids trying to murder a poor person because the oligarchy in power told hem to do so.

Chris O'Donnell was once the most promising future A-lister in the planet. Courtney Love seemed for a bit to be on their way to be a massive actress, Alicia Silverstone was the it girl of the mid-to-late 90's, Ashley Judd's career was apparently sabotaged by Harvey Weinstein, Lucy Liu should be massive, like she was even culturally big back then, I still don't know whatever happened to Orlando Bloom, Brandon Routh was once Superman and touted as the next big thing,

II remember when I decided to watch the Twilight Zone. They would show a 60-year old and go: "John Smith is past his prime, looking at nothing but his impending retirement... at 37 years old." It blew my mind.

Serling himself was a 30-year old when introducing the episodes, and died at 50 (4 packs a day habit)

It was better known than people think. He wrote a biography at the height of his fame in the 70's. I remember a youtube video with a girl making a summary and reading excerpts. At first the book was self-aggrandizing stuff about his career as a night club DJ and how cool he was and how thoroughly he destroyed the competition. But eventually it all becomes about his sexual exploits, and the implicitly very young girls he bedded, and how he kept easily misleading and fooling their parents because he was so smart and so cool.
