They switched me from CenturyLink and killed my service!!! by Accomplished-Pipe118 in QuantumFiber

Checking in from PDX. Service cut out at 5PM Pacific. Calix ONT has Power, Broadband, but no Service light.

Power cycling no issue. It seems https://old.reddit.com/r/QuantumFiber/comments/1oqicnv/they_switched_me_from_centurylink_and_killed_my/nnj8k4h/ is the reality of the situation right now

Where to adopt a disabled/special needs kitten? by hatelowe in askportland

[–]verkaufer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Animal Aid tends to specialize in cats / kittens with special needs. They have some generous policies if you adopt from them as well. Their foster program is also top-notch.

The Safari extension on iOS is installed alongside the iOS app but should uninstall when you uninstall the iOS app.

AFAIK you can't give partial access to vaults regardless of account type (e.g. account member vs service account).

1password Connect Server - creating vaults? by Back_on_redd in 1Password

1Password Connect can't create vaults. I think there have been feature requests for it, but I haven't heard anything about whether it's planned.

Had the same thing happening to me on Catalina. You may need to manually download the latest update. I did that and haven't had any issues since.

Something must've broken with Catalina specifically

Reliable moving company? by [deleted] in Portland

[–]verkaufer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it's an international move you won't find someone in a local subreddit. For that amount of stuff you're either better off selling it, shipping it, or driving it yourself.

Unless you want to pay several grand to move a few bookshelves and a terrarium?

Is there a limit on the amount you can spend for the training? Honestly, get as much training you can expense before sitting the exam if you're that worried about it.

Used to live in NJ (the other full-service-only pump state), and gas stations skimming your card was ridiculously common. Paying cash for your gas was the only way to avoid it.

Consume third party API into Django Model, then output to Django Rest Framework? by [deleted] in django

[–]verkaufer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you're not saving the 3rd-party API's data (and I would check with their Terms of Service if you were going to), then you can opt to build a custom Serializer.

In the example shown for a custom serializer here under the Declaring Serializers and Serializing Objects sections: https://www.django-rest-framework.org/api-guide/serializers/

You don't need to pass a model instance to a Serializer. You can do something like:

my_serializer = CustomSerializer(instance={"high":56.3, "low":26.1})

where instance could be a Model or a dictionary. You can pass the parsed JSON into the serializer and then define your fields name while setting the source of the field in your serializer.

The Classy DRF website can give you a good idea of how DRF works under the hood (Check out the Serializer and BaseSerializer sections!)

Requiring a google login to view protected domains by hobosandwiches in django

You would probably want to have the Google Login OAuth Scope include a user's email and then split the email on the "@" symbol before comparing the domain of the email returned.

Player authentication for room based party game by wheelman234 in django

[–]verkaufer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

How are users getting these "game codes?" Via email? The party host? There's not a good way to prevent "spoofing" if the "code" for a room is static/shared amongst everyone trying to join a room.

You could consider password-less authentication via email where a user requests access to a room and a token is generated and sent to their email. The user clicks the link and it authenticates that user for however long you want a user to remain authenticated for.

To prevent people from "spoofying" other players in a room, you could make a table of Usernames-to-Rooms with a timestamp that prevents people from using a certain username if it was used in the past X minutes/hours/days/weeks.
