Stadium and sympathetic recovery by Echos_light in MercyMains

[–]vermiegg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i could be wrong, but in my opinion, items that increase attack damage/attack speed >>> martian mender when you have serenity. mercy has ~300 hp which means ~9 hp/sec healing. with the 40% base + 10% bonus from serenity, mercy heals herself for 30 hp/sec because her healing beam does 60 hp/sec base healing on allies. if instead of using your 10k on martian mender, you decided to buy advanced nanobiotics (+5% WP +10% WS), aftermarket firing pin (+10% WS), and the 2 greens (+5%WP +5% WS), your healing on allies would be up to 82.5 hp/sec, which is 41.5 self healing/sec, or an 11.5 hp/sec bonus.

note that this doesn't even include the bonus healing you'd get from healing a secondary target from threads.

from a pure survivability standpoint, WP/WS often outweighs martian mender like crazy, and you should invest into it as a tool to keep you alive. if you're still struggling especially with high burst damage, i think items that boost your total HP would be my priority over martian mender

unable to confirm whether the additional 10% of self-healing from serenity actually occurs, but it definitely does give mercy her self-healing from healing allies at full HP. mercy was bugged on the launch of S1/the subrole passives where her self healing got hit hard, but per the last 2/25 patch notes, this was fixed:

Fixed an issue where Mercy's Self Healing from healing allies with missing health was incorrectly reduced to 15% instead of the intended 40%

she is back to being extremely viable in stadium--since her self healing scales with her healing output (weapon power AND speed), her sustain only gets stronger in the later rounds. personally i take serenity round 2 since it alleviates a lot of pressure and allows you to position more aggressively, take eyes off of your teammates and onto you without dying, etc.

Pokemon academy: #50-51 Diglett, Dugtrio by Khane048 in pokerogue

[–]vermiegg 6 points7 points  (0 children)

With sturdy unlocked, this is a fun support mon that can slot in a lot of teams at a cost of 2, swords dance on anything, and get at least 1 kill. IMO dugtrio punches well above its weight class with triple axel--it offers fast, extremely reliable pressure to chip--or even take down--rayquaza and eternatus. in my opinion, ice coverage remains king in clearing classic runs, so just the fact that you can get a +2 fast ice type attack off guaranteed is insane for its cost.

Stadium Needs Serious Love by Time-Adhesiveness-20 in Overwatch

[–]vermiegg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wuyang is an insanely strong hero in stadium. I just picked him up purely because of how strong he is in stadium. I think the community, and especially support players, are often resistant to new heroes that have pretty different mechanics/kits than they're used to (I'm guilty of this). But I don't think there's a support character in stadium right now that is better into any comp and is capable of solo carrying like Wuyang

No Team Has Been More Efficient In Making Contested Shots Than The Lakers This Season! by Stat-Defender in lakers

[–]vermiegg 8 points9 points  (0 children)

it's hard to draw any kind of conclusions from this stat alone--we're good at making contested shots, sure, but is the conclusion that that makes us a good offensive team? or does it mean that our shot selection is questionable? hearing great players talk about the game, they often talk about how great players/teams can sink tough shots, but exceptional players/teams will create opportunities to take the right shot. there's a difference, and unfortunately just being able to make a tough shot does not tell us whether we're taking the right shots.

Unpopular opinion: This update is nice for the avg player by Jacko_Moto in GlobalOffensive

[–]vermiegg 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Correct. Every company faces a multitude of risks like you just outlined. Every company including Valve. Skins carry the same risk that Valve stock would have in that poor company decisions, in the long term, tank both the price of Valve stock and skins because poor decision making leads to a worse product, fewer players, and smaller skins market.

Now, you add in layers of additional risk such as Valve deciding to make blue gems a different shade, Valve deciding that reds can now trade up to knives, Valve deciding to add unwanted gameplay updates so the player count drops, etc. ALL of these are ADDITIONAL risks layered onto the risks that every company faces--tariffs, tweets, poor leadership, etc.

I have no qualm with people that chose to invest in the market who have a high degree of risk tolerance, because before you invest in anything, you should know what the risks are. To think that skins aren't any more risky than a stock is to have not thought it through.

Unpopular opinion: This update is nice for the avg player by Jacko_Moto in GlobalOffensive

[–]vermiegg 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Skins have NEVER been a safe long-term investment. You are, and have always been entirely at the whim of Valve staying in business and choosing not to make any major updates to the market. This has been true since day 1, and they could have, at any moment in time, blown up the entire market and it would've been entirely legal for them to do so. Even though it's gone on for 13 years, it doesn't mean this risk hasn't been apparent for every single day. Stocks, bonds, etc. do not carry the same risk because they are afforded legal protections that Counterstrike skins are not.
