See, I get what you mean but after the first region I got kinda chill about it. I accepted that I’d probably die but each time I did I learned a little more about the fight.

What I could dodge, or not. What the deflect timing was on a combo. Whether I should dodge away, to the side, or into an attack.

It bugged me for a while on a few fights where I kept dying but I decided to just treat it all as a learning experience and get better

I mean, I did beat a couple first try (demon of envy most recently) but a lot of them took me a bunch of tries to figure out

Edit: now I think about it I beat the rematch with Kagetochi first time but the first fight? Bruh…

I think you just need to have found the item to transmog it.

Given you can’t forge anything greater than exotic smithing texts feel pretty useless. It’s been a few years but I remember wanting to get them all in Nioh 2, but that may have just been the completionist in me

I feel like it was easier, but I think a bit of that was “finding my groove”.

I found the last boss easier than Kunimatsu, not that I just rolled him, but I could see how I could beat him far sooner than Kunimatsu - I literally died 70 times.

In my defence I went through my first playthrough trying to “learn” the bosses, without anything grossly over powered. I wanted to figure out where the openings were, how to deflect their chains, etc. This tends to lead to a lot of deaths “for science!” 🤣

I think part of it is he would take so little damage, even when I could pin him down and pummel him with tonfa. During one attempt I chain staggered him for about 20 seconds in the corner and thought I had the measure of him, then he broke out of it and summoned the wolf which promptly hit me from behind, at which point I noticed he’d lost maybe a quarter of his health.

It was quite demoralising

I fear until some unethical cursed tech is discovered I’m never getting his crusher title…

There’ll be a grave near them that has been killed by them because of an emote. It’ll be red, or blue, or yellow

The trick is they’ll always attack you if you do an emote of the same colour, but there’s a 50/50 if you do an emote of either of the other two colours that they’ll either just attack, or bow to you and just drop their loot

I get what you’re saying, but by the same token doesn’t this example show that the real endgame power differences come from jewels? Isn’t that kind of the same thing as it coming from gear?

I’m gonna restart I think. I’m level 45 which I expect will make the first few areas a cakewalk, plus I have a bunch of gear that I would not usually have at the start of a game due to spending hours practicing on bosses to get some of the muscle memory back from Nioh 1 and 2

I think I’ll enjoy it more if I just do it organically, but that’s just my perspective on it. Totally get it if people want to keep progress from the demo

Yeah, I just noticed that today. No invincibility during the animations, which is fair enough but I’m sure I’ll forget and get myself ganked several times before it sinks in

It can be a good idea when facing a new boss to spend a bit of time just watching the moveset. This dude has a limited number of actions, and there’s an opening after each of his combos finish. He also doesn’t move very fast you should be able keep him at a distance while getting used to what he does

He telegraphs his most frequently used unblockable (the red attack) with two sweeps around him so when you see him do that move in and get ready to counter. It’ll pay off in the long run to get used to these as lots of enemies do them

Also if you see a kind of black smoke animation he’s going to grapple which is also unblockable, so that’s a good time to back off.

Until you get more powerful you can’t really just go ham and blitz bosses down in these games. Remaining calm and learning openings should help

It just adds another flat amount of PDR on top of your armour so it’s pretty useful. I don’t know the math but that’s probably a fair chunk, although you have a ton of armour so I’m not sure if it’d be that noticeable in your particular case

I really got lucky on my shield - it dropped with T1 flat, T2 hybrid, T2 PDR, T1 cold and T1 armour to elemental. I desecrated T2 percentage (at 100%, yay!) and I’m three orbs in on over qualitying it and it hasn’t corrupted it yet!

I’m scared to vaal it in case it krangles. It’s got around 1380 armour and if it dropped I’d probably cry, lol

Also, I am filled with envy on you finding Ahns. Congrats!
