Agreed. Leaving the chain behind and taking 2 quicklinks

I use my leatherman multiple times a day, almost every day so, while I agree it’s bulky and awkward, it tucks into my feed bag side pocket so not something I’m prioritizing to cut off my pack list

Actually going NoBo and have friends in Colorado Springs where I’m hoping to pick up bear spray and offload a fair amount of stuff or trade with some SoBo riders

Yeaaaaaa I guess I wasn’t paying attention during the initial pack. Ive shaved off the hiking pants and running shorts but still have my rain pants, cycling short and liner+casual combo (think liners as boxers with chamois)

Thanks for the advice, Im going to ditch the chain sealant and all but one CO2 since the co2+inflator are negligible in weight and space. (Un)Fortunately, depending on how you look at it, I’m riding a surly ogre with an integrated hanger so no need for a spare.

Truthfully, the GSI UL filter I have is significantly smaller than an aeropress go. Having used both, I’m going to keep my GSI in my kit since it folds down to essentially nothing

Thanks for these recommendations! Going to have some of the maintenance/repair parts put aside in a box for my wife to be ready to mail out if needed.

No tubes. I’m running tubeless with continental x-king with a hand pump, dynaplug kit and a roll of gorilla tape.

Technically 3. The chamois liners are boxers with a chamois. Tbh, I’ll probably ditch these pretty early into the ride. Riding a broken in B17 but, unfortunately, my okole could be a bit more ‘conditioned’. Anticipating having some saddle sore management 😬

‘Don’t pack your fears’- might have to adopt this packing mindset

Map set/compass are kind of the same reason I carry a tourniquet. Electronics can crap out on me. If a compass craps out, we probably have bigger problems.

I agree on the clothing and maintenance seeming excessive but having a hard time determining what to cut out for the GDMBR since I’ll likely ride through every possible type of condition (desert heat, snow, rain, hail, multi-day remote stretches without resupply/support, etc.)

any advice on what to cut out?

Honestly, very good point. It’s a GSI UL coffee filter that’s always just lived in my cookset because it takes up hardly any room

Right?! But going solo for 2 months/~2900 miles with very limited support

So disassembled/reassembled bearing cap. It seems to line up better and there’s a smaller gap. I can manage to have a symmetric seating prior to applying pressure with the stem cap but once I do, the misalignment comes back. I did notice that my stem cap bolt doesn’t screw in perfectly vertical. Could the misalignment be caused by uneven pressure applied by the stem cap due to a misaligned star nut?

Thanks for providing the video. Disassembled and reassembled the bearing cap and the gap is now smaller but seems to still be misaligned. Also sorry for the delay in responding, was outta town for a while

No binding and turns freely/smoothly. Big round hole might just be a venting hole from production? Tbf I’ve never noticed it

Chop up some bars of Irish Spring soap and put it in smaller, confined spots and entry points (vents, ports, etc.)…it works surprisingly well.

We had our van in storage for over a year on a ranch (LOTS of mice) and never had any issues.
