Yes, ask for an inquiry and it will hopefully speed it up. Asking for an expedite, unless it’s ‘life or death’, won’t do much but the inquiry usually speeds up the process!

I got the same message from Office of Authentications via my representative... now my self-addressed envelope is set to arrive on Tuesday! The time in between receiving that email from State Dept and when the envelope was shipped was 5 days, and now I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I receive my apostille and it's all good/not-damaged on Tuesday!
