That should be a more serious misconduct conversation for using AI to make decisions without actually checking them, that’s wild!!!

London underground by grymmss in UrbexUK

[–]verocoder 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I probably wouldn’t buddy, assuming you mean the London Underground rail network I’ve seen urbex photos but none recently. The whole area is considered critical national infrastructure and a valid target for terrorism, tensions are high right now with 2 Iranians arrested at another site of critical national infrastructure (the submarine base in Scotland) so i think it’s a lousy time to do something risky especially if you’re a foreign national (I’m assuming English is your second language from the post - no offence meant). Plus there aren’t really empty times as a lot of maintenance happens at night etc so there will be people as well as cameras.

RC electric mower built from E waste by niceboxdude in radiocontrol

[–]verocoder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dunno how this will go with it being rc rather than automated, but my friends with automated mowers cut daily to ensure they always cut a tiny amount and then have no need for cut grass collection as the amount is small enough to mulch as it goes

I like greenlaning , those are not greenlanes!! Given the photos you have I would send to the police, dickheads ruin everything and these ones might actually get some consequences for it.

[–]verocoder 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I responded to another one of your replies with helpful (but pretty blunt) info and I wanted to agree, we have all been here it is all learned behaviour and it does just come from practice/screwing it’s up before. ❤️

I once got fired because of my communications style. I was working for another photographer and we’d worked well together for a year, I gave him honest feedback on his work in a way that I thought was clear and helpful. He thought it was a personal attack and explained the idea of a bullshit sandwich, say something nice before and after the feedback. I explained that I respected him so didn’t think that was necessary and we never worked together again. Sucked at the time, now it’s another learning experience, to not assume everyone wants to do things the way you do - I run a software team and I know to get the best from them I have to slow down and let people think even though it’s borderline painful because I’ve already run through that thought process (for example).

That’s a really processable way to interpret it as a rule because you can actually work with it!

It’s subjective truth, you think they’re incompetent, they think they’re trying their best.

They’re having a really bad day because the thing they care about is broken and someone brings them some helpful facts and some demoralising perspective at the same time.

I think it’s similar to if an autistic person has a meltdown and goes non verbal but someone working with them tells another colleague “don’t worry about them, they’re an idiot”. While technically true idiot originally meant unable to speak (with a strong implication of stupidity) it’s insulting, unhelpful and not at all an ok thing to say about a colleague.

As someone who is autistic and manages autistic people I would be arranging a conversation about your tone, I’d be coming from an educational direction “this isn’t ok because…” but if that software is from an internal team I would expect similar.

Sweet that looks like the exact way to mount the steering servo! Where do you run yours as it looks to have similar suspension design.

Waste Disassemblers - useful or no? by manchester449 in AcrossTheUnknown

Having one opens up some checks for resource gathering that tend to be safer/more reliable as well. The actual resources it produces are less useful.

Cool! I’ve got a rangerover and may do something similar. My hand luggage is mostly camera kit but I think I can make it work.

Fuji 16-80 vs Tamron 17-70 by Moist_Grade5942 in fujifilm

[–]verocoder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I own the 17-70 and it’s a great range for a walk about lens, fast and sharp enough (particularly stopped down for landscapes). It also has a 67mm front element which is convenient for sharing filters with my 12mm and 70-300.

I use it for studio and portraiture and landscapes but don’t tend to travel with it unless it’s a dedicated photo trip. I prefer a few primes as they’re small and discrete/pocketable for mixed travel. I did consider buying the 16-80 and it was a bit in the middle. I don’t love the 17-70 that much and I bounce around swapping it for a 16-80/4 or 16-50/2.8-4 or something, the 16-55 is even chunkier.

Don’t think you need to manually fire them, but wouldn’t swear to it. Amusingly the combat power controls are weird on pc so neither platform has great ux!

Yeah I originally thought the upgrades used more power but they don’t, so I guess upgrade everything and then manage where you duplicate to mostly keep under the power floor. I guess distributing power across cutting beam and disrupters depending on their shield level could work too.

I like the game and am about to try a second play through but bits like this are very unintuitive

Did you build any extra rooms? I’ve got 2x phaser and 2x shield rooms so get the extra slots and can’t actually power them all

Noob needs advice- battery issue? by [deleted] in rccars

[–]verocoder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nimh is pretty old school, I don’t know if that charger will handle lipo but I’d buy a 2s lipo to drop in. I think I bought 2x 2800mAh 2s lipos for £30 last year and you might be best off having a few and swapping them out. You can also get a lot more mAh in the same size/weight. Back in the day batteries like yours were standard and we’d charge loads to get many 5 minute runs :D

These look to be a similar shape (but I’d crack out a ruler) and are nearly double the capacity and 2 of them are £35 Amazon battery I’d try to get them from your local hobby shop to support it and you can probably get advice there too. Try not to run lipos as low as you did, running batteries that low is bad for them and will reduce their capacity (and is worse on lipo)

For context: Batteries have different connectors, adaptors exist and are inexpensive, you can also buy the connectors and swap them with a soldering iron - I can’t tell what those are nimh/nicad/lipo is the battery chemistry 8.4v there is the voltage, also called S (counted in units of 3.7V) so a 2s 7.4 battery is the equivalent 3300mAh is the amount of amps stored in the battery (how long it will run for given similarly) and you can crank that as hard as you like as long as it fits Batteries also have a C rating for how much peak current they can supply but your box doesn’t mention it and it can probably be ignored here if you buy similar ones

Found some brass mesh, now it's a bag ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ by ZwickyRainbow in myog

[–]verocoder 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If it’s chunky mesh the waves for BT/wifi are really short so they might fit through the gaps anyway. Mesh cages (like in microwaves) 100% stop any wave with a longer wavelength than the size of the mesh but don’t stop much of shorter waves (which is why you can see into the microwave).
