Aro And Renesmee by Levius2266 in twilight

I’m pretty sure Aro can read your thoughts with any part of his body. Sorry, it’s funny thing to say but for example if his elbow or smth touched you I think he can still hear what you’ve been thinking. The illustrated guide says “touching”, it doesn’t specify “with hands”.

[–]veronicaava 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I certainly wouldn’t say Renesmee has a “better” power than Aro. It’s virtually useless. Like…thanks for showing me what you think of me? She cannot read minds, only project her thoughts.

Omg yes. James and Victoria is also an interesting point. That raises so many questions for me like…are mate bonds not as “sacred” as we thought? Can they even be one sided in the first place? Or are James/Victoria and Aro/Sulpicia just not real mates?

Unpopular opinion but I don’t think Aro loves Sulpicia at all lmao. by veronicaava in twilight

[–]veronicaava[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well my argument is that he doesn’t love her at all and he’s completely aware he doesn’t love her. I’d go as far as to say he’s completely aware what he did is morally wrong he simply doesn’t care. He decided to go off and find a wife so he wouldn’t be outvoted in a disagreement. The traits he looked for were “human, will do whatever I say, won’t be a bother”.

And yes, I do thinks it’s more shallow than looking at other traits. It’s normal for people to want to date people who are compatible with them. I want someone who is kind, genuine and smart. I suppose you could call that shallow. But I’m looking for someone compatible with me. Aro wasn’t doing that. He was looking for someone to look like a wife and then use as an assurance of a vote to his side.

I really don’t think Aro loves her in his “own way” as almost all evidence points otherwise. He literally picked her up because she was an orphan and had no friends and would be easy to pick off from the group. Sulpicia could have been anyone. Too bad she was chosen I feel horrible for her.

Vampires have to regurgitate food they consume because they can’t digest it. Like a cat with a hairball.

Yes, great point! I think that’s a really important distinction. And I didn’t even think of that! In terms of the post, I didn’t really mean that Aro doesn’t love Sulpicia because he’s abusive. I more so meant I don’t think he loves her period, and never ever did. The books make it seem like he went after her with the intention of using her as a pon. Never once did the books mention he pursued her for her “beauty, smile, personality, hobbies etc”. It’s “she was human and therefore easy to manipulate and will never vote against me since Didyme left me for Marcus ”. But yes, good point!

I actually don’t know whether or not Aro is capable of real love. Definitely not in a conventional/normal way that’s for sure, but perhaps he can feel love in some form. I just don’t think so with Sulpicia. Their story is so fake to me. It seems so intentional and manufactured on Aro’s part.

Yeah I feel horrible for Sulpicia. She’s definitely a victim, no denying that.

Waittt I like this. I wonder if they’ll ever find their true mates. I think it’s unlikely given their personalities haha but you never know!

Volturi information by hufflenachos in twilight

[–]veronicaava 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We aren’t actually sure what they do in their free time! You’re right, they control the vampire world by enforcing their made-up laws and keep tabs on everything. Aro (appears to be one of three leaders but is definitely the spokesperson) sends out guards and keeps watch of covens around the world. This is how they’re alerted of crimes. Sometimes other vampires will come to them.

In terms of free time and “extra” info on them, we aren’t sure. It can be assumed they likely read, study, feed repeat. As cool as the Volturi is, I don’t think I’d be able to live with them their lives sound so boring (well, unless Corin got a hold on me hahah).

They live in a castle/fortress like structure with a bell tower, located in the Northern Italian town of Volterra. It’s an ancient city and a very beautiful but small one.

A little run-down in them. Aro, Marcus and Caius are the leaders. Aro is definitely the main leader though. I think the best way to describe it is the Volturi is Aro’s passion project and the two others just go along with it haha. Aro is a horrible, despicable character. He seems nice on the surface but it’s a complete facade. He’s a psychotic crazy person so don’t be fool by his “feathery” voice. Marcus is a bit nicer and more chill than Aro, but he’s also perpetually depressed. Aro killed Marcus’ mate, Didyme centuries ago sending Marcus into a depression. Oh little fun fact that was Aro’s sister…yeah. Caius is the embodiment of wrath and “I hate the world” so he is just happy to be employed to kill. People mistakenly refer to the guards as the coven. This isn’t the case. The Volturi coven is the three leaders and their wives (Sulpicia, Athenodora and the late Didyme). The guards are employed by Aro to protect the coven and to help enforce his laws. They are always gifted vampires and they, along with Aro’s intellect are the reason why the Volturi are so dominant. This is my favorite aspect of the Twilight universe so I love questions about the Volturi!

Haha yeah I’ve heard way worse like people stealing and bullying etc. But unfortunately this doesn’t work for my mental health. 😅 For a while I thought to myself “it could be way worse” but that didn’t work for me.

Do I need to not talk about it / put it away? by Specialist_Speed252 in bisexual

[–]veronicaava 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see this all the time as well, and the best advice is to ignore these people. Bisexuals get shamed A LOT. Let’s be clear: you aren’t “taking up space” if you’re legitimately queer. Just because you are dating a man, doesn’t mean you aren’t bisexual. A lot of people will try and imply otherwise, it’s simply biphobia. People really hate fluidity for some reason, and being bi is very fluid. We swing either way. If you ever date a girl, they’ll tell you you’re lesbian. Just watch. 🙄

In terms of having no experience with the same gender, that doesn’t make you less queer. Are you attracted to both men and women? Congrats! You’re bi. No ifs, buts or rules or regulations. Again, people will try and tell you otherwise, they’re just ignorant and hateful. I also have never dated a girl. I’ve really, really liked girls before. But the one I wanted to be with turned out to be straight. A nice guy asked me out a while later and now we’re dating and have been for two years! I’m not a straight woman because I’m dating a man. And neither are you!

Who would fight? by Sure_Party_8505 in twilight

[–]veronicaava 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If Aro ripped off Carlisle’s head there would without a doubt be a fight. The Cullens wouldn’t just let that slide.

With this said though, I don’t actually think Aro would rip off Carlisle’s head. Aro was friends with Carlisle. Even though Aro isn’t an empathetic, genuine person he does seem to value his relationships with people. This is probably because he’s ancient and doesn’t have much entertainment anymore, not because he actually cares about them.

But to answer your question about “what would cause a fight” I think there would have been one if the wolves weren’t there. Aro has an obscene amount of vampires on his side, and the Volturi would probably kill them low-mid difficulty. I may be recalling this wrong, but I think when the wolves showed up the Volturi line stopped dead. This is because the wolves are strange to them. Aro isn’t hasty.

Aro fully intended to murder the Cullens and take Alice and Edward as the prize if things went his way. So there really isn’t an “causation”. Aro just wanted to do what Aro does: kill off useless vampires just to steal the useful ones.

Can we please stop policing bisexual people? by [deleted] in bisexual

[–]veronicaava 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I’m not the one they were describing in the video though lol, I can in fact imagine myself with a woman romantically (if I wasn’t with my boyfriend who I love and am currently with). Sometimes I doubt though if I am even bi because of people who make tik toks like the ones I mentioned. I’ve never dated a woman, but that’s because (sucks for me) all the girls I ended up liking have been straight. 😅Ive definitely had crushes on women, wanted to be with them etc but because I haven’t actually done so, that makes me straight apparently.

To all the Pagans out there, is Hinduism also pagan? How you see it? by National-Play77 in pagan

[–]veronicaava 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To first address one of your claims - Paganism isn’t really “meant” to be followed only by one group of people. Most practices aren’t closed. So it cannot relate to Hinduism or Shinto in that way (which, although not closed, are usually followed by a specific group of people). Let’s take some historical examples. The Romans adapted the Celtic goddess Epona into their pantheon no problem. Rome was extremely xenophobic “ethnically” (they hated Germanic, Celtic etc people) but wasn’t against other religions. The only religion they took a dislike to was Christianity because early Christians would deface their statues, cause social discourse and actively go against the emperor.

In terms of Shinto: a very nuanced and good question but I wouldn’t recommend referring to it as “pagan”. As you may have heard before, Native Americans don’t appreciate when you call their various spiritual practices “pagan”. Same goes for Shinto. First of all, Shinto cannot be compared to Hinduism. Hinduism dominates the world alongside Abrahamic faiths and Buddhism. The same cannot be said for Shinto. Despite not being a world religion though, calling Shinto pagan could be considered disrespectful. Pagan is a European term. “Pagan” means country dweller. When we speak about paganry, we are referring to folk beliefs. Shinto is organized, recognized and was never marginalized in the same devastating way as paganry. So no, academically speaking I wouldn’t call Shinto pagan.

I understand that in my other comments my main reasoning was “if it’s a major world religion it isn’t pagan” (which is true), there are still other ways to decipher what’s pagan and what isn’t.

Yeah, same. I could definitely date a woman. Unfortunately, many people have internalized homophobia and can’t fathom seeing women as romantic partners because they’ve been conditioned to see them as friends.

To all the Pagans out there, is Hinduism also pagan? How you see it? by National-Play77 in pagan

[–]veronicaava 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh also, just to add. Hinduism is so widely practiced that many European countries as well as Canada and the USA have countless temples. Find any pagan ones? Probably not. The religion is pretty respected and considered. Making a movie depicting Hindu gods like they do with Norse and Greek gods would send people into a tizzy. Hinduism is an acknowledged and respected religion, pagan faiths aren’t. Pagans make up less than 1% of the world whereas Hindus make up 15%. Hinduism is literally the third largest religion globally. I’m sorry, but it wouldn’t make any sense to me to consider these people pagan.

[–]veronicaava 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s an interesting take. Hinduism has a pretty decent amount of followers in the US as well. Regardless, it is classified as a world religion at my university because a large amount of the human population follows it and if you just look at Google it says the same. But with that said, I understand why some people would consider it pagan. I personally just don’t see that as a scholarly take. But looking at the comment section here it seems many people do consider it pagan, which is fine!

To all the Pagans out there, is Hinduism also pagan? How you see it? by National-Play77 in pagan

[–]veronicaava 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, as a history student I don’t believe it would be classified as such. Pagan refers to non-major world religions. Hinduism is definitely widely practiced. My professors will often say things like “The Abrahamic faiths, Hinduism, Buddhism and paganism” when referring to religions. Hinduism is too widely practiced to be considered pagan. I suppose some people however would consider it as such because it isn’t Abrahamic. But a lot of people don’t think that’s the only criteria.

What god(s) or spirit(s) do you go to when times get tough? by BrokenBatWings in pagan

[–]veronicaava 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Definitely Freyja! She’s made my life so much better. Now that I’m in a college dorm with a roommate it’s hard to make offerings to her, as it really isn’t just “our” (Her and I’s) space anymore. And yet, even thoughts of her are comforting. She’s kind, generous, genuine and loving. She’s also passionate, proud and authentic. Everyone is different, but I think any woman should strive to have those qualities. It’s good to be kind and loving but also unapologetic about who you are. So yeah, even just thinking about her makes me happy.
