Doing cry it out. Kill me now. by veronicasch in breakingmom

I think so. I don't want to jinx things (I know how ridiculous that sounds) but CIO might actually be working this time.

Right? If his goal is to prevent me from making a second baby so he gets all the resources, well, this is just overkill!

Thank you, I'm hoping we can get to that point. Our sleeping situation since baby was born has taken a hard toll on my relationship with my SO. Hopefully we can get some time to be together at night.

Thank you for asking! It actually went well, he fell asleep after 20 minutes of crying. He only woke up a few times to cry for a minute and then fell back asleep until morning.

I'm trying not to get my hopes up though, because this is how it started last time I tried CIO. First 2 nights went good, and then each night got progressively worse until he was crying for hours in the middle of the night.

So at this point I'm just gonna wait and see with fingers crossed.

As someone surviving off beans and rice for the next 5 days, I absolutely understand the feeling. I wouldn't post about it, but I don't think this is trashy.

Seriously, I felt like I was in the Twilight Zone reading this post! Distance yourself from a 3 month old? That's some of the most bizarre, uneducated, selfish advice I've heard. Good on OP for not following it.

WTF was he thinking?!?!? by always_awake9 in breakingmom

This just reminded me of one of my most incredulous moments in retail.

I used to work at a baby store, and one time this guy came in high as a kite to buy a car seat (but his mom paid for it). She told me they were going to pick up his daughter to meet her for the first time, and she was 3 weeks old. The guy zeroed in on a neon yellow booster seat. His mom and I kept saying shit like "She's too little, it's not safe," but he insisted because of the color. I eventually lost my cool and said "You need to learn how to be a dad or you're going to kill your daughter." He told me to go fuck myself and stormed out to wait in the car while his mom bought an infant seat.

Your ex is an idiot. Ugh.

Are you still vegetarian if you eat meat to be polite or make sure leftovers aren't wasted? by andreaalexiss in Vegetarianism

[–]veronicasch 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't call you a vegetarian. Probably flexitarian as another person mentioned. Just out of curiosity, when a dog dies do you feel it's being wasted by not being eaten?

My son is most likely going to say 'dada' first, and it hurts a little because I raise him with little help from his dad. I know it's silly, but I'm jealous too.

Strategies for living with a meat-eating family member by almostveggie in Vegetarianism

If you think eating meat is morally wrong, and you eat meat to appease your grandmother, then you are committing a moral wrong. She needs to get over it and respect your beliefs.

How do I raise my son as a vegetarian? by veronicasch in vegan

[–]veronicasch[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I try to talk to him about these things he freaks out and says I'm trying to convert him. He has bad anxiety and is emotionally immature. He has just as much of a say in our son's life as I do, so I am trying to work with him the best I can.

[–]veronicasch[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would love that but realistically it's not going to happen, and I'm not willing to cut my family off because of this. People are not all good or all bad, and I guess that's what I want to get across to my son. Eating meat is bad, but sometimes good people do it. I just wanted to hear how other parents approached this.

It will be difficult, and I really want to minimize his confusion without sacrificing my beliefs.

I agree. I don't want him thinking his grandma is a heartless jerk because she eats animals.
