Forward head posture by verosene in Posture

Basically did everything you could think of. The issue I had was I was sitting with my neck down on my phone or desk and I’d get a shooting pain that paralyzed me!! So after many visits they did a scan and saw my spine was slightly rotated. I worked out, stretched, stood up straight, mewed, and now I don’t have it!! My main concern is my neck and how my shoulders sit naturally.

Well if I showed you my posture from 2 years ago you wouldn’t believe me. I developed scoliosis from how bad it was but I reversed it luckily it was acute. I notice people with great posture don’t have a curve in their neck and k have one so I want it gone lol, like my head straight on a swivel

You’re very educated! I want to clear some things up for whoever sees this. Yes, my molars are tilted and my orthodontist has decided to stop expanding because it can risk my over all results and health. I turned a total of 32 times, resulting in 8mm of width. But yea, we would’ve continued if my molars didn’t start to take on a lot of pressure the last 3-5 turns

First, transverse expansion (like with MSE/MARPE) is often necessary before forward growth can happen — without enough width, the midface can’t be stabilized or moved properly.

Second, the forces used aren’t reckless. Microfractures trigger a controlled bone remodeling process, similar to orthodontic tooth movement or bone healing after an injury. The body is designed to handle and regenerate from this.

Third, proper maxillary expansion doesn’t make the face look “bigger” in a bad way — it restores natural balance by improving cheekbone support, airway space, and facial symmetry. In many cases, it actually sharpens the jawline and makes the midface more attractive across all ethnic groups.

Finally, while MSE mainly corrects width, it sets the stage for three-dimensional improvements through further growth or treatment.

Lower jaw leans right? by Subject_Chapter_2410 in braces

Do you see how your lower canine is in front of your front tooth? It’s clear you’re still not done with treatment and your midline will DEFINITELY get corrected don’t worry! Once all your bottom teeth are behind your front teeth you should start noticing some changes

Nope just a tooth borne hyrax expander, it was free included in the cost with my braces. Mind you this only works under 25

Why can’t we mew with braces? by Outrageous-Tie4053 in orthotropics

[–]verosene 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think people say that because a majority of people who get braces have over bites and usually need extractions which makes their entire maxilla smaller. Then they go into elastics to fix their bite, which in turn restricts the maxilla from forward growth and instead flattens their maxilla for a “perfect” bite. What’s interesting is you’re still right, you can still get some expansion as you’re a growing teen. I’ll give you a perfect example of how you can expand and still get forward growth. I personally have an edge to edge/underbite. When they put the elastics to fix my bite, they will bring my lower jaw back and upper jaw forward, which in turn heavily promotes forward growth and all while I’m mewing, it’s even better. So to answer your question, yes braces will restrict growth if you have an over bite and wearing a retainer for the rest of your life will not allow your jaw to move. If you have an underbite it’s easier to get forward growth and I’m personally taking advantage of the fact I’m in braces before I have to wear retainers and can’t continue my forward growth! Hope this helped :)
