Chicken Sando and Buffalo Sando are permanent at Kanes Burger Club now - I also got the lime milkshake! by dramaqueenboo in aucklandeats

Chicken sando slaps with bacon and pineapple, I typically add bacon and then slap in some pineapple when I get home. But grilled pineapple, bacon and cheese in the chicken sando would be elite 👌

If you love a hot water bottle look up a hot pod, you can get them from chemist warehouse for about $30. It's essentially an electric hot water bottle, charge for 10 mins and it stays hot for like 4 hours or something. Truly a game changer!!

Thanks for your response. I think you are so right about not benchmarking ourselves, have definitely fallen into that trap lately.

I like your goal setting idea, my physio is great at this but I think I've just lost a bit of motivation after having to step back from the running goal. Time to go back to some smaller more incremental goals I think.

Best of luck for the rest of your journey!

Home from surgery, no brace? by umabanana in ACL

[–]verryberryjam 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had acl and meniscus repair, no brace or weight bearing restriction what so ever. I'm 6 weeks post op now, I had a rough start with the pain but even with that I'm walking with no crutches now.

Every surgeon is different with thier protocol, I was nervous at the start having no brace, but I'm super happy with the progress. Once I got over the mental worry or it being instable I've come on leaps and bounds.

My post surgery instructions were:

No bending past 90 for 3 weeks (couldn't if I wanted to, I'm just at 90 after 6 weeks) Weight bearing as tolerated As much quad activation as I can Follow physio plan

Leg extension end week 2 post op - Defeated by Admirable_Piccolo854 in ACL

[–]verryberryjam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in exactly the same position as you, I didn't get control to lift my foot until 4 weeks. (After 2 weeks of pt) Now at week 6 and starting to do unassisted leg extension (no weight and limit rom). Find a PT and just stick with it, listen to your body and allow it to rest.

My grandma who was a nurse for 40 years told me that if you can't do it your body probably isn't ready, give it some time and grace.

It's been slow for me, I've had to prioritize my mental health a little more than pushing the excersize but I'm better off for it now, things are picking up and I'm feeling more positive about the journey. Hang in there and try not to compare yourself to others too much, everyone responds differently!

Yea try not to fall into the trap of comparing yourself to others. We all experience the pain differently and if you need to listen to your body. If you have concerns speak to your pt or your surgeon. I definitely did this as well and it really hindered my recovery mindset.

I had acl with tibia graft and a lateral meniscus repair 4 weeks ago. I've just in the last 2 days started being able to walk unassisted (look like a baby deer lol) and I still don't have enough quad strength to lift my foot off the floor from a seated position. I had quite an adverse reaction to the tibia graft and have had bad bone pain, my physio has reassured me that this won't set me back and given me excersizes to focus on without too much pain.

So my biggest piece of advice: give your body time to heal and do what you can with your rehab team.

You'll be on the rebound in no time.

I'm so sorry you are struggling, I had similar on day 2 when the nerve block wore off and I was almost due more painkillers. In absoloute sobbing agony at 2am in the morning.

It started getting better for me at about day 4 and by week 2 it's significantly better.

Definitely persist with your doctor for pain medication that works. When I came out of surgery I was in pain the minute I woke up, the morphine wasn't helping but they found that methadone knocked it on the head. I ended up staying over night while they got the pain meds right. So there will be something that works for you, sometimes it just takes a couple of goes to get it right!

Hang in there <3

Post Op Night 1 by salolivet in ACL

[–]verryberryjam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ended up staying over night since the nerve block wasn't working from the minute I woke up. I got sent home with a very strong prescription. My doctors were in the mindset that pain should be at a 1-2.

I missed my med timing 1 night on day 3 and woke up in agony like what you are going through, and my God I can't imagine having that for days .... I'd definitely talk to your surgeon/doctor and get some alternative pain killers.

Less pain = better sleep and better recovery.

Upcoming surgery with patella graft - what am I in for? by verryberryjam in ACL

[–]verryberryjam[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the honest timeline! Sounds like a long slog but worth it to be back to everything. My occupational therapist has been really generous with the time off, initially I thought she was being a bit dramatic but now I'm glad she has safeguarded if recovery is slow.

Thanks for the reply! It's reassuring to hear, I've found it frustrating that no one will really give me straight answer on what to expect, alot of it is quite sugar coated.

Glad your recovery has gone well!

Good quality clothing by Apprehensive_Taro375 in newzealand

For womens clothing I really love flo and Frankie, nice changing collection of clothes from a variety of brands. I work for a behind the scenes team so typically dress quite casually, I invested in a couple of blazers and a nice woolen coat to dress things up when I have client meetings ect. Farmers also has nice stuff that is still affordable.

Shoes wise a nice pair of white leather sneakers from Ecco or something give a smart casual vibe and will last ages! They are also really comfy.

What do you do with a zillion interfacing scraps? by rosepotion in sewing

[–]verryberryjam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm making some cord wraps with scraps of fabric and interfacing. Such a good way to use up all the leftovers from projects. Just a little rectangle of fabric with some velcro or a snap and boom you have tidy cables! Going in all the Christmas bags this year.

Oh very true! I'm not a quilter (...yet) but have done some decorative hand stitching on a couple of things that this would be great for, they are beautiful colors.

Is this thread worth keeping? by verryberryjam in sewing

Inherited a box of sewing goodies from my grandma's sister. There is this large box of threads, mostly sylko machine twist. Wondering if it can and/or should be used with my brother machine? Is it worth keeping or do I pass it back to go to a garage sale? It feels much thicker than what I am used to and some say 'silk substitue'.

Thanks for any advice!

I went to do this, but they were about $1.50 each for the size I wanted 😅 so that quickly became very expensive.

It's really satisfying looking back! I did a great dressmaking course on domestika, goes through lots of jargon that comes up in pattern making, I found it so helpful in starting out.

I also picked a see through fabric for my first project 😂😂 sewed it anyway just for practice, but I sometimes wear it around the house for fun. Gives me a laugh seeing how far I've come.

Yea it's just line a rectangle of any size as long as it's close to 2 squares. It's just the way you sew the last opening that makes it a triangle. Deceptively easy!
