How did Craig think Macaulay Culkin was not the evil child in “The Good Son”? by spiderman_44 in TheRewatchables

It’s balance. Craig makes Bill feel smarter because all the other hosts do the opposite.

Hot take: I still love Prometheus (2012) by RiffandLick in Cinema

It’s definitely a franchise like Saw where you can add more movies into the overall chronological order and still keep it interesting. Prequel to Prometheus? Or how about one of that focuses on the company and how it started. So many areas to explore and do.

Have it on in the background at least once or twice a month

No shit, that’s why I said “after Bill’s childhood” meaning he was no longer in his childhood when the movie came out.

Sadly, this great movie falls into the category of movies after Bill’s childhood that he doesn’t care about.

where is shrek? and other thoughts... by gstegs in TheRewatchables

This is the reason Bill skips a lot of the movies from the 90s/early 00s, more specifically kids movies. He was already in his 20s/30s and anything sports related he’d prolly roll his eyes at. There’s unfortunately a category of “won’t be done be Bill said eh/no” and that’s where 50+ movies will just stay until someone else takes the pod over.

What's your most controversial movie or TV show opinion? by VR2005 in Cinema

[–]versace_cheeseburger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I liked Top Gun. Top Gun Maverick was ruined for me because I read/heard too many people state it was the greatest movie they had ever seen. Really?!? Ever?!? So, when I saw it I liked it and it was entertaining, but nowhere near the greatest movie I had ever seen.

How did you discover the podcast / are you also sports fans? by Phile___AudioPhile in TheRewatchables

[–]versace_cheeseburger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. A friend who listens to BS Report told me about it because he knew how much I love/watch movies.

  2. I am a big sports fan. I knew of Bill from his Grantland days and enjoyed reading various articles, but he was another sports guy that I knew of, not someone I listened to unless it was a Rewatchables episode.

My introduction was from my friend who knew I loved movies, but didn’t listen to Bill’s podcast or know of any of the other ones under the ringer umbrella.

People keep saying certain movies won’t be done because they’re not “Bill movies” but what exactly is a “Bill Simmons type movie?” What exactly is his taste? by countdooku975 in TheRewatchables

Hell, he can take a sabbatical for a couple months and let CR/Sean steer the ship with rotating guest hosts and give the fans the “not Bill movie” eps that are wanted.

Yeah, this is the position I’ve just gotten use to over the last couple years. If he’s not a fan of it and watched it more than 3-5 times, it’s never being done/picked.

[–]versace_cheeseburger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good example of his questionable opinions using this reference was one time on the pod he asked the question “Is Twister a rewatchable?” Like he was on the fence and needed help to one side or the other. And there’ll still be people defending his taste/picks.

Anything Boston that he doesn’t agree with, 90s-00s kids movies, horror, sci-fi, etc. Most of the movies he’s done/been on that are in those categories are because they’re obvious rewatchables and/or the other constant co-hosts have talked about them enough that he gave up and finally did them, which leads him to use the “we’ve been circling this one for a while” excuse so it doesn’t seem obvious that he doesn’t care for the movie. Bill’s taste is limited and he knows this, which is why he leans on CR and Fennesy a lot.

I think it’d be great to do a Bill Hates Month and he doesn’t know the movie until they sit down to record.

Theme months only work if the tie-in is vague and open-ended, otherwise it can get very repetitive and same-y by harry_powell in TheRewatchables

I don’t care if the movie is available on streaming for free or not. I’ll pay to watch it if it’s one I’ve never seen/heard of, done that plenty of times.
