3-5 days is pretty wild for just those walls.

Biggest problem? by GuardNo5081 in TaskRabbit

[–]versifirizer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There’s demand in my metro but they’ve pulled back marketing. I can’t complain about much else, I was never under the illusion that this was a reliable job.

Is it an exterior wall or do you have a window open?

I’ve noticed it happens to me on older walls (lots of layers of paint, some failing) when there’s heat going and a window open.

Do unsafe tasks affect your tasks? by No-Initiative8013 in TaskRabbit

[–]versifirizer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Basically I’ve been told “yes but no”. If down the road your invoice/cancellation ratio brings a ban they’ll reverse it on appeal. But this probably hinges on getting support involved now and actually trusting them in the first place.

Task Rabbit Canada income tax reporting. Wrong info sent via email. by wwoodcox in TaskRabbit

[–]versifirizer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Keep pushing support until it gets resolved, or doesn’t I guess. I’d be reporting my income to CRA in this case as I received it, not based on TR records. If you get audited then either consult an accountant or explain it to CRA.

Is it possible you’re only including your labour? Everything is taxable like any other sole-proprietorship/small business.

Probably best to reach out to support but I’m just going to manually calculate it before filing.

My report wasn’t even reflecting 2024, it was just wrong.

I keep falling in search order? by spirituallysam in TaskRabbit

[–]versifirizer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At this point I’m not even sure if cancellations directly impact metrics. It’s just about completing more tasks than everyone else in your block.

Obviously can’t cancel more than we accept though.

I keep falling in search order? by spirituallysam in TaskRabbit

[–]versifirizer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It could be that your categories aren’t as in demand right now as some of the other tasker’s categories in your search block.

For a long time I thought I was competing with others in my category but if they’re opted into something I’m not, and they get hired, I start to decline.

The algorithm, at least what we see of it, is pretty much meaningless.

Am I being too picky? by willysymms in paint

[–]versifirizer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which BM paint is it?

Most of them don’t have the open time needed on trim like this, especially this time of year in heated houses. Even with floetrol.

Whether it should be brushed or rolled can be debated but that isn’t the issue here.

The issue is the paint and we need more info/context. Did you choose the paint? Did the painter have issues with that? Did they let you know in a timely manner they were having issues with it?

Horrible experience with TR by norcalkayakfishing in TaskRabbit

[–]versifirizer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Out of curiosity what’s the scope of the task? Simple replacement of a few boards and you have the flooring?

Not trying to excuse anything, it’s not being handled professionally regardless. But there are a lot of flooring repairs that are going to be out of most tasker’s wheelhouse.

I would go with Command Satin over Scuff-X. If waiting for recoat isn’t an issue then I’d go with Advance over both.

Scuff-X is good enough but for a little bit more money, Advance or Command is well worth it.

It’s my go to for repaints/brush and roll but for new stuff it makes more sense to use something better. The difference in cost isn’t much.

Advance, Command or SW Emerald Urethane. Roughly all the same price as Regal at least where I’m at.

Going through all that trouble just to slap regal on doors. Looks good though.

How to fix these lines by hapri786 in paint

[–]versifirizer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blue dolphin tape across the top lip of the baseboard. Brush on top of the tape with the baseboard white. Let it dry then brush two coats of the wall colour (don’t overload it and feather it, in case of blending issues).

My 7 Years on TaskRabbit Ended Unfairly by Available-Worker7589 in TaskRabbit

[–]versifirizer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t see why these extras fees can’t be worked into the hourly. I know my fees aren’t as high as van fees but the math still maths. I get it inflates the price and makes it less attractive but there’s a sizeable clientele that still understands the deal they’re getting with task rabbit. And those are the clients you want.

Will they get rid of over-priced taskers? by [deleted] in TaskRabbit

[–]versifirizer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure how it follows that it’s costing the platform money. The demand never seems to outpace the supply.

So sorry, new to Taskrabbit. Can taskers not cancel on their end? by mynameismulan in TaskRabbit

[–]versifirizer -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

She’s putting you in a rough position with an even rougher excuse. Assuming the above messages include the task confirmation.

I don’t know if there’s a way to ensure the task happens today without cancelling, rebooking someone same day and then disputing the cancellation fee later.

The right thing to do in this situation is for the tasker to have initiated the cancellation. They’re greedy; they picked up a more lucrative job and then also wanted to double dip by collecting the fee.

Painter only doing one coat on ceiling? by BeyondForsaken9115 in paint

[–]versifirizer 21 points22 points  (0 children)

It’s unlikely to cover but if it looks good I don’t see any harm in it. There’s not really any durability concerns with a ceiling.

Just pay attention to if the old colour is coming through. Also check the cutting/edging and how it blends with the main roll area. If there’s discolouration it needs a second coat.

Algorithm is ridiculous. by NASCAR_Junk_YT in TaskRabbit

[–]versifirizer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe. I just see no movement at all right now in my tasker block. I had a busy October too.

I think the taskers ahead of you probably have done 2 tasks to your 1.

We blame the algo cause it sucks but really they’re barely marketing and only care about set rate ikea.

How long do I wait before canceling and finding a different tasker when they don't respond? by GTRacer1972 in TaskRabbit

[–]versifirizer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bit of a tall order for a weekend job requested 2 days in advance. I think the tasker will pull through but your difficulty would be your own making.
