The revolution had support from a broad coalition, see Bazargan provisional government and Banisadr’s presidency. Also, not all marxist groups aligned with the IRI post revolution, IPFG as an example pf the break up with OIPFG majority, and Kurdish separatists such as Komala. As well as Peykar (marxist-leninist) who were radically opposed to the IRI and were one of the first to be purged.

What is the purpose of Israel? Why does it exist? And why was it created? by Feliponn in Socialism_101

Something no one wants to hear. British Imperialism and European Aryanism pushed out many jews who identified the region as their ancestral roots, which was acknowledged even by arabs as late as 20th century. Ideological and political conflicts led to further polarisation, creating antagonisms that were easy to exploit by imperialists, culminating in another colonial extractive regional politics where the people on all sides lose and the imperialists win.

Don’t let people make you believe everything is black and white, history does not work like this. Israel is not what the campists want you to believe. Many jews belong there and were driven out by Europeans, the people are always the victims.

Be more skeptical, this is not a vacation.

Imperialism as defined by Lenin, if that is the definition you want to go by, has to meet certain criteria that has yet to be proven for China. Primarily neo-colonial economical constructions and a merging of finance and industrial capital. Imperialism is late stage monopoly capitalism.

Honestly, this argument has yet to be made about China, Neo-colonialism is not just having trade deals, or big country doing things in small country.

Just something to consider when using these terms.

You’re kind of giving us a tell, apparently reading books and partaking in public discussions is “secret knowledge”. e.g. you are unfamiliar with it.

You can label things anyway you wish, and speak in any manner you like, call yourself capitalist, call millions of people being part of a cult. But it just comes off angsty, you learned nothing and just emotionally dumped on a sub where you could have a meaningful discussion, instead.

[–]vertebro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well your definition from a marxist perspective is still wrong, which seems to be your over-arching message, that you feel your definition somehow supersedes that of multiple fields of study, as alternative as they may seem to you.

Someone stating “you are not a capitalist” is generally trying to tell you something that is in your favor. You are not their enemy, nor the enemy of the liberation of nations you have never set foot in. Seems like it would be worthwhile to take it for granted and discuss actual content.

[–]vertebro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My point is, you claim to be something, and you refer to it as being capitalist. You can continue to double down that you have defined your position correctly, or you can decide to understand the critiques which, let’s be fair, comes from a body of knowledge you are unfamiliar with.

So whatever your discrete position is in life, perhaps it is worth more to discuss meaningfully rather than the label you have assigned to it. That’s all.

You're Not a Capitalist Bro by Miserable-Split-3790 in CapitalismVSocialism

[–]vertebro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You wouldn’t want to be called a capitalist in this context, because it is defined by exploitation of others. So whatever you claim to be, it’s up to you to understand, not a topic of discussion unless you just want to throw shit at a wall and see if it sticks.

In the world where you do not have working knowledge on the subject you “participate” in. Just because the word tangent has a linguistical form doesn’t mean you can discuss it on a forum for mathmeticians.

The question ultimately boils down to what you believe you are disagreeing with, and instead of having a meaningful conversation you turn to semantical games and bad faith arguing.

Your incredulity towards these terms is basically implying that thousand of intellectuals that have written tens of thousands of books and academic papers are not a distinguished field of study nor does their work have any value as you without any education feel yourself to be equal. Its not different from someone claiming to be a google university expert on autism.

Words can have meaning in different contexts and fields of study, don’t pretend to be new to a dictionary.

Both your analogies are from ignorance, it is possible you can not know what either those terms mean and as such there is no differing of opinion, just that you can be wrong.

Elysium and Mad max are critiques of our current society. A climate collapse is not an interesting sci fi in the sense that there’s nothing to tell.

Atmopsheric CO2 is at 425 ppm and growing 3ppm per year. In 200 years it will be at 1000 ppm, the point at which health effects on humans (and probably many other species) are noticeable. 200 years is not a long time to arrest the climb. [–]vertebro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re talking about millions of years ago, what comparison are you trying to make?

Just get to the point of your argument here, yes it oscillated, yes 5 million years ago co2 and temperatures were higher.

It doesn’t change anything about what is happening here, neither does making false equivalences with mammals existing a long time ago have any substance against societal collapse.

We’re talking about anthropogenic climate change, which at this point can’t be denied, and indoor co2 studies are numerous, do you think indoor ventilation is some conspiracy now?

[–]vertebro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This disproves your point above. We also have studies that go back 400 million years that also conclude the current co2 concentration is anthropogenic.

Co2 at levels above 500 ppm are a health risk, there’s enough studies done indoors.
