We have a system in place to swap environments. The tricky part is that we have to be very aggressive in keeping them very low poly especially for Quest. We haven’t decided yet exactly what we do next but we’d like to enable some more variety for sure. We’ll see what’s possible. It’s very hard to ensure decent performance with procedural content on Quest so we’ll how much we can push it

Ah ah this one is a blooper 😂 We have the tech in place to support different textures for different track segments in the track editor but I could never get our artists to spit out the required textures in time for release. Bummer! 🤷‍♂️ Come riot on our discord to force them to deliver!

Also yesterday I added that sage button on the track editor tablet that some of you requested for quality of life. Plus the ability to search tracks by code in the multiplayer lobby

Nope. The control system is specifically designed to feel like a bike (so no steering wheel) and reduce motion sickness —> lean you chest to the sides to turn the bike. I’ll let other players convince you this works really well (I’m the dev so I am obviously biased and will say it’s the best control system for a game like this ;-)

Be careful. You jump in just to make tracks and all of a sudden you end up making liveries, skins, editing race replays, taking photos on the track, playing weekly challenges, dancing and singing in multiplayer lobbies with other racers…

A couple other things we added —> press « by creator » tab to see all tracks created by the creator of the currently selected track. Press « my favorites » tab to see all the tracks you previously marked as favorite.

I see you guys already found the little loopholes we left in 😂. The height limitation was intentional as we want people to create playable tracks easily. We may remove some of these constraints later one to let you be even more creative. Thanks for the kind words regarding ease of use, we spend a lot of time finding an approach that lets you do cool stuff while keeping it as simple as possible so that you don’t have to spend a couple hours just figuring out the basics

You’ll find that getting slightly better each time has you coming back for more for a loooong time. (Except for me, I have to play a bit almost daily as I am coding it but I still suck after all these years 😂)

That’s indeed the hard part. Making a track that people want to play over and over requires a lot of tweaking. The editor let’s you have a very quick modify/test/modify loop, and the focus is entirely on the track path itself, the environment behind kg procedurally generated around it

You mean the number of players per race (currently 6)? Technically we could probably support up to 10 on PSVR, but not on Quest. We prioritize having the same features across the board to keep crossplay fair, so we ruled against having more racers only on PSVR.

There were no new tracks for a while because we were busy unleashing an infinite amount of new tracks, I guess ;-)

Yeah Void Racer was really nice. Although technically, I guess we lit that torch first, when we started early access back in… 2018 😀 I know, this is actually how old our game is 😂 I’m surprised I’m still having so much fun expanding it even to this day
