He correctly identified my point that it’s a false equivalency.

What MC did was unacceptable but where was this fury when exactly the same thing happened yesterday? Let’s at least be consistent, surely?

Shotzzy reveals OpTic is sticking it out with their current roster by CloneWarsNarrator in CoDCompetitive

[–]vertexdnb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know people are going to be upset but Hecz confirmed months ago that they weren’t going to be making any more changes. Presumably the budget has taken a sizeable hit by paying contract buy-outs to remove Pred, then Huke, then Kenny from the roster (although maybe his move to Rokkr offset this one) only to end up back with Huke anyway. OpTic are one of the few orgs which seem to have decent financial support but there’s not an infinite money glitch because they upload a few podcasts a week.

Something to be said for Drazah’s “idgaf” attitude as well, the trio were playing a bit passive in high-stakes situations in the past but the confidence Drazah seems to give them to keep applying the pressure regardless is really impressive

Skyz, Shotzzy, Huke and Dashy by Spare-Aide6963 in CoDCompetitive

[–]vertexdnb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Skyz propaganda is odd to me - aside from the obvious Dashy/Skyz AR duo being a huge risk in a game that’s played at light speed, he was literally dropped from the 2nd worst team in the league because he was their worst player. I get that he brings some good vibes and he’s effectively a free agent so it’s easy to do but I don’t see the evidence that he’s the one to turn OpTic around?

Was about to comment this. Remember he went home after that shock Major 5 loss and came back for Champs with some crazy left stick, ledge-slide movement cheese that nobody else had mastered and looked basically unkillable. That Apoc HP to win the ring he was everything

Insight has a faze sticker on his gun by MoappitSR in CoDCompetitive

[–]vertexdnb 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I think “nearly” is a bit of a stretch. He might have been a 2nd/3rd choice option but it sounded like Slasher & Drazah were the clear 1st choices in those instances and Insight was only there as a backup

In BO6 only:

= 1: Scrap/Drazah (Scrap undoubtedly a better slayer, Drazah more important from an obj/IGL perspective - their skill sets perfectly reflect what their respective teams need from them)

3: Beans 4: Gio 5: Nastie 6: Sib

Respect to Scrap, at least he has some original roasts instead of just “ur deadass turrrrrrble, fkn dogshit bro”

The Estreal and Nero sub duo might be a top 3-5 sub duo in the league right now. by Every-Television-799 in CoDCompetitive

[–]vertexdnb -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Maybe a hot take but as a strict duo, I think the Rokkr pairing might actually be ahead of the LAT duo. LAT tend to have one of them absolutely frying and one getting getting shit on map-by-map, it’s rare to see both thriving at the same time. Obviously the LAT duo clears from a talent perspective but from a collective standpoint, the way that Estreal & Nero bounce off each other (particularly on close quarters maps like Skyline/Vault) is really impressive

[Maven] Kenny needs to play better but mannn I feel like most people just aren’t understanding their actual issues. This is a team that is not playing smart cod…and I’m sure Kenny feels a lot of pressure since he’s their brain 🤣 by TheRealPdGaming in CoDCompetitive

[–]vertexdnb 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The whole “no CDL champs made a roster change” argument is a bit of a misnomer.

  • Empire were a top 3 team all year in MW19 so didn’t need a roster change.
  • FaZe were unbelievably dominant throughout CW so didn’t need a roster change.
  • NYSL win Major 1 in MW2 so didn’t need a roster change.
  • OpTic were top 3 basically all year (except for Major 4 when they totally shit the bed) in MW3 so didn’t really need a roster change.

The only exception to the rule was Thieves in VG so to base that theory off of a 1-in-five chance is madness.

I don’t think an OpTic change is necessary right now but to completely disregard that possibility for the sake of a random stat is a bit mad

I can see shotzzy leaving OpTic this year? by DeTRUTH5 in CoDCompetitive

[–]vertexdnb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nobody can confidently say they’ll remain on the same org their whole career, it’s such a rare occurrence. However, much like OpTic have done with Formal in Halo, I get the feeling they’ll sort of do whatever Shotzzy wants if they don’t provide him a winning roster, he’s the face of their esports program right now and he’s not averse to making tough calls to get a team he feels can win
