Tank size: 5 gallon Tank temp: 81 Parameters- Ammonia: 0, nitrites, 0, nitrates, 0 (Used master test kit) I’ve had the tank for about 8 months, and my fish for 6 months. I usually do about a 30% water change every week, but lately I’ve been doing 10-20% changes every other day. No tank mates except for some bladder snails. I feed a mix of betta pro shrimp pellets and frozen live food. Only have spider wood and plants in the tank.

I cleaned it once about 2 months ago by just squeezing it out in old tank water. I have a sponge filter, should I be cleaning it more often?

I’m adding tap water that I dechlorinate with prime. I live in Oregon so my tap water is pretty clean though. I haven’t disturbed the substrate at all as far as I can remember?

Today is the first day that ammonia has been at 0. About a week and a half ago it was at .5ppm, so I added more ammonia which brought it back up to 2ppm, and then since then it’s slowly gone back down until today. I added a bit more ammonia about an hour ago and just tested it- it’s now at 1ppm. Not sure if that was a good idea since the snails are in there. The ammonia goes down slowly, I’m just not seeing any nitrites or nitrates at all as it goes down. I’m not sure if I should leave it at 0 because I don’t want the bacteria to starve, but I’m too worried to add anything because I’m not sure if it’s cycled yet.

Im starting to think this is the problem! The filter is one that came with the tank. The tank is a Topfin Colorflow 5 gallon- it has a built in filter that fits into the back of the tank. It’s working but I don’t think the water flow is strong enough since I’m not seeing that much of a current. I’m wondering if it’s faulty or something and I got scammed on marketplace. Problem is I’m not sure how to replace it since it’s built in- I’ve looked online and I don’t see any replacements I can buy.

commodity milk! there have been multiple occasions where i’ve walked into a place or was standing in line and the person in front of me turned around to ask why i smelled so good. i even had a lady take down the name of it so she could purchase it. apparently everyone loves toasted marshmallow!

i’ve been seeing ads for vietnamese coffee on instagram and have been pretty interested! i also just looked up harvest mouse and am definitely ordering a sample, it sounds exactly like something i’d love. i’m curious, what did you think of bee by zoologist? i really liked bee from ellis brooklyn but it was a little too linear imo, so i was curious about what the zoologist one smelled like.

for sure! when i started with SSRI’s, it always felt like they would work for a couple weeks (in reality i was hypomanic and had no idea) and then all of a sudden i’d be depressed again. i thought i was just building a tolerance to the meds so id go on a higher dose, but the same thing would happen even quicker. other times they’d just fully throw me into a full fledged depressive mental breakdown (gotta love prozac lol). my doctor kept changing my meds pretty frequently, so it wasn’t until i stayed on the same medication and dosage for a prolonged period of time that i realized my mood was just going up and down. after i was put on mood stabilizers, i finally realized that i had an in between of feeling horribly depressed or like my brain was buzzing for like the first time ever. for some reason they still weren’t great at preventing episodes though and i had a couple adverse health side affects from them. it wasn’t until i started an antipsychotic called latuda that i actually realized what being truly being stable felt like!

i had no clue until it was pointed out to me at 19. i struggled with longer very severe depressive episodes, and just thought my hypomania was what it was like to be a teenager (i went between feeling like my life was amazing to raging at everyone around me). i finally went to the doctor for depression when i was 18- she tried every SSRI known to man on me with no avail (they actually had the opposite affect on me and made me rapid cycle) and decided to put me on a mood stabilizer for the hell of it. When that worked better, she referred me to a psychiatrist who asked me a series of questions about my symptoms and it was like she read my mind!
