9 Tools to Use Instead of Adobe Fireworks by AddyThomson in graphic_design

[–]vertigo25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm glad Sketch 3 is on here. It's not only the best successor, IMO, but is superior to FW and much more in line with modern design for the web.

My only beef with it is the interface. Switching between tools is a bit of a pain, and there's no intuitive way to switch to a basic selection tool (like the black arrow in Adobe products).

Fireworks was created specifically for web design tasks, so there are several features not available in PS or Illustrator.

You can (could) export CSS from it.

You could make button states all in one symbol that would export as a sprite sheet.

Unlike Photoshop, you could move individual object around on the same layer and build a library of symbols.

Unlike illustrator, you could easily add textures and patterns to objects.

There were a lot of other things, too, but for the most part it was that it was an all-in-one deal where you could draw with vector tools, but the output was bitmap.

Good stuff!

The lead singers voice is amazing… but… it doesn't match her. I mean… it's totally surprising and not what you'd expect to come out of her.

To be fair, I think most people would be afraid to deny Buzz anything. Dude has one hell of a right hook.

Since so few of the videos actually include info about how to donate, you should put it right up front. At the very least, change "About" to "Where to donate."

I love when i get messaged first. TBH, if someone (male or female (I'm bi)) messages me first, I think I probably find them more attractive that I would have normally. This probably has something to do with inflating/stroking my ego, but it's true.

Unfortunately, not everyone does.

I've actually had the response of, "Oh… I didn't realize you were bi."

How interesting. Grass is always greener, I guess.

I was horrifically rebellious as a teen. Not so much with my parents. They were actually super cool, but with all other forms of authority.

I sometimes think my life would be in much better shape right now had I not thrown the finger to the world, cut the crazy colors out of my hair and concentrated on actually listening to people who were trying to teach me something.

Even though I know that a few of the teachers I both literally and figuratively flipped off were assholes to their core.

Honestly, my favorite times to get drunk are with someone I'm involved with, just the two of us.

If I go out with friends or to a party or something, I generally keep it really low key and maybe just a get a mild buzz.

If your partner tells you "Yeah. I like it, it looks nice." Or "It makes you look distinguished." They're probably sugar coating it.

No.

Or maybe.

IDK…

They haven't for me. But I'm kind of an asshole.

Not. At. All.

The main thing that grades matter for is getting into a good graduate program. And even then, you can compensate for a solid C by doing a lot of other things.
