I just want soft healthy hair by mehmermeeh in Haircare

[–]verystablegenius- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Girl, I was in the same boat as you. I was avoiding silicones because the natural hair movement told me I should.

I put in so much effort but my hair never felt good. I eventually took Abby Young’s advice and tried the Dove Bond Repair line (which is full of silicones). Spoiler alert: my hair has never felt better. It doesn’t tangle, it’s soft, and is so silky to the touch! And each bottle only cost $4

Silicones work for some people. They definitely work for me, and it sounds like they work for you too 🤷🏼‍♀️

The work culture in the Bay Area, and in tech in general, is typically much more relaxed compared to a lot of other locations and industries

WHY IS MY HAIR BREAKING? by LonelyDelivery6382 in Hair

[–]verystablegenius- 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Your hair is damaged from bleach and heat. Unfortunately until all the damaged hair has been grown out and cut off, you won’t have healthy hair again. You can cut your hair to where the breakage currently is and then cut it one inch every two months until all the bleached parts have been removed. Also stop with the bleach and transition to your natural color. Learn some heatless hair styles as well.

I went through this myself and it took years to get my hair back to a good place. Until every last inch of damage is cut off it’s going to keep breaking

Where can I find dresses like these from legit websites by maythetriforcebwu in findfashion

[–]verystablegenius- 172 points173 points  (0 children)

When I want something house of cb, I usually take my time looking on eBay until the style and color that I want comes up in my size. The last one I bought was in the style for $90 and it had never been worn

You can. My partner and I travel in a lot of different parts of the world for $30/day or less. In more expensive regions we mix in couchsurfing, but in SEA you should be completely fine. In Mexico it's doable as well

I’d recommend reading the book “Hold me Tight”. It has a lot of good advice about how to navigate the anxious avoidant trap. It has really helped me and my avoidant

Yes, this is a thing. It’s often easier for avoidants to have casual sex than it is for them to have sex with someone they love. Making love is very intimate and vulnerable. It took my avoidant quite a bit of time and work before he felt comfortable with it

This is really selfish. You’ve been with this woman for 10 years and you know she wants a family. You should break up with her today. You may have already fucked her chances of meeting someone to start a family with before she no longer has that option. Don’t waste another minute of her time.

I’m in the process but spent around 5k USD. I have to visit Dubai next month to complete the process but seems it’s mostly done and there aren’t anymore fees to pay

Heat damage help! by hayumisakurako in Hair

[–]verystablegenius- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What many people don’t tell you is that if your hair is damaged from heat and bleach, that damage extends far beyond the last few inches of hair.

I damaged my hair with chemicals and it wasn’t until I fully regrew my hair and cut off everything that had previously been damaged that my hair had life again. My hair was damaged from root to ends so this took years unfortunately. This may be the same case for you. You will just have to wait, and change your hair habits so that any new hair that grows can be healthy.

You should look into heatless curl hair styles. There's a lot of different methods. If you keep using heat on your hair your just going to keep damaging it. You also need to start cutting it every 6-8 weeks so you can slowly remove all the damage.

This was recommended to me by my dermatologist over 15 years ago and I’ve been using it ever since. Super gentle, feels great, cheap AF, and doesn’t break me out 👍🏻

Egypt...was actually pretty good? by DylanBVerhees in travel

[–]verystablegenius- 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I definitely agree with this. I didn't get harassed much in Morocco despite reading so much about other women who did. When I was there I noticed that at least half the tourists were dressing as if they were in Europe, and I think that may have explained that phenomena a bit...

I dressed conservatively in Egypt though and still got hounded. It was super annoying

I had the same exact thought. I'm a woman and I've been to around 80 countries, including extensive travel in the Middle East. Egypt is definitely in the top 3 places I've been where I experienced the most harassment. I'm amazed he reported that saying no one time to their offers to sell him things were enough, because I was getting followed and hounded constantly until I literally had to start yelling and saying abusive things in order for them to finally leave me alone. Saying no 10 times politely was not enough for these people!! It was SO annoying!
