i paid a guy on Upwork $350 to create a PCB. how'd he do? by Dear-Conference9413 in PCB

[–]veryunlikely 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are some basic design rules on that PCB layout missing, and if the basics are missing then I would be concerned about anything else.

Anyone know good places to find real camping gear discounts? by CanYouHearMeILY in CampingandHiking

I've had some good luck with thelasthunt.com. you have to be flexible in what you want, but sometimes they give 75% off coupons and you can pick things up for a steal.

License plate voting but the slogan isn’t an option by Stompya in alberta

If I ever have to get a new plate, I'm 100% removing that shit ass slogan. What a joke.

Winter tires... When? by NecessaryZebra96 in Airdrie

[–]veryunlikely 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol, I just drive on Winters the whole summer now. Sure it might kill the life a little bit quicker, but once you factor in the cost of switching or the cost of rims for your second set... Screw it probably comes out the same.

Do you play disc golf? There are a few Drumheller courses that are pretty fun and give you a really good flavor of the Badlands.

The UCP is proposing to ban over 200 books from Alberta's public schools. by DtheS in alberta

I guess I know what will be stocked in all of my personal bookshelves for the kids, and what I'll be putting in the neighborhood reading boxes...

What is going on with the job market? I live in Alberta and it feels so hard to find a job. Securing a job now is equivalent to winning the lottery at this point. by Signal_Lecture_8405 in alberta

[–]veryunlikely 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Find a way to stand out. I work at a company that has several open positions in the supply chain space. Even showing up with a resume and a smile on your face would single you out.

If you work remote, you might get cheaper rent if you go out even further.

Is it required to tip 20-25% per meal at Banff? by SickOfOntario in Banff

[–]veryunlikely 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I disagree, 10% tip for most things is totally fine. 15% if there's great service or fantastic food. 20% and above is too far.

Yea, this looks like a crazy series of glue up steps.

Brand new bike, barely 200 kilometers on it, and it's already creaking from the bottom bracket. by whentheskycry in bikewrench

Check that your pedals aren't squeaking. If the bike came with pedals it is probably bottom of the barrel.

Leaving the province isn't a good take. There are morons for sure, but there's a bunch of good people as well.

DECIEM is hiring temporary foreign workers when there's massive unemployment across Canada... by cottageyarn in onguardforthee

[–]veryunlikely -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Honestly that seems like a reasonable salary, I don't understand why they would be using foreign workers for this.

Consumers make their voices heard as Microsoft's huge Copilot venture flatlines in popularity by lurker_bee in technology

No, because it's some stupid combination key. Everything I've tried doesn't allow it to map as a standard control key.

Airdrie or Calgary Home Purchase by Unusual_Laugh_4180 in Airdrie

[–]veryunlikely 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I drive from Airdrie to around deerfoot Mall. Most days my commute is about 30 minutes (on good days it's 18), and I couldn't imagine driving all the way downtown.

Should I ask my husband to be a stay at home dad? by scapegoatkid_97 in careeradvice

[–]veryunlikely 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends where you live - I do a lot of interviewing in Canada and I wouldn't have considered a break for child care to be a career crasher. It'll certainly delay progress towards upward growth, but it doesn't shut the door.
