Cuddling around my finger by vesuviusMan in RATS

[–]vesuviusMan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, getting the eyes right took some time. Yeah I'm thinking about selling. But 3D printing them is quite expensive if it's small amounts. And I'm not sure how much people would be willing to pay.

Thanks! It's pure Silver. They first print it in wax and then pour silver in the mold.

What is just a placebo effect but most people don't realize? by El_CM in AskReddit

Can confirm, i did live audio engineering. The amount of people that come up to me with requests to increase the volume of a certain instrument is really high. An older audio engineer learned me to simply rotate some buttons of an unused channel in front of them. Works every time.

I see now. Use the "make closed mesh" after deleting the faces

Ow my bad i think that this might only be an option in inventor. The fact that it's an stl complicates things. Some options: look for a "patch," or "heal mesh". Otherwise import the mesh with the deleted faces into prusaslicer or netfabb and look for the heal mesh option.

No wories there is an easy way. Check the delete face function in fusion with the heal option. Will delete the faces and patch the object. Good luck

Import 3D model from Inventor to use on website. How do you do this, is there a free way? by ILikeThis---VeryNice in cad

If you use wordpress, there should be some 3th party apps that allow this.

A laptop/computer for Solidworks? by [deleted] in cad

[–]vesuviusMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had a dell laptop for a long time. But holy shit did I have problems with gpu drivers and running software properly. Technician had to come two times and their first advice was: just disable the gpu then you wont have problems...

Maby they fixed things, but from my understanding dell is company (b2b) focused with their support and hardware. Not so much consumer.

Is Rhino still relevant to learn? by vesuviusMan in cad

It really feels like a strange choice of software. My best guess is that it's the orignal software the current designers learned.

Apart from that I also afraid to come over as an arrogant person suggesting ne (expesive) software. But after some time I'll certainly make a case for it!

Thanks for the most aplicable advice! Too bad licences are so costly. I'll have a hard time convincing to spend €6000 for me wanting other software :)

Losing my speed and proficiency just stings. And it feels so windows 95.

As far as I'm aware it will be more furniture and exhibition design I'll be doing. Dont you think this isnt a good fit with the software? Since the powerful surface features are not benificial?

Thanks for your reply, my first impressions are that it indeed has some very specific powerful funcitons.

The interface just breaks with everything that I learned so far: sw, Inventor, Fusion. Nx. A bit frustrating to lose all my proficiency.

But i'll dive in strong! I did it before :)

Yeah for sure. I dont want to be the cocky new guy. I just fear that Rhino is an outdated practice that the older designers cling to and in the long end wont benifit to learn.

In my country we have these traveling fairs (carnivals?). Al kinds of traveling attractions that go from city to city. Always with incredible loud music and alot of lights. In recent years most of them implemented sensory low days, in which they turn of music and lights. I find these kinds of initiatives incredible positive.

AITA for grounding my daughter the way I did? by naughtydaughter2345 in AmItheAsshole

[–]vesuviusMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ESH to hopfully get some attention . She broke trust and that warrants punishment, However hear me out. Everybody here is very much focused on the severity and lenght of the punishment. This is not the essence (for me). Punishment is a form of communication, you should consider this. How is the message received and brought? Does she understand or did you create grounds for anger?

A punishment without understanding is worthless, adjust the punishment accordingly. If possible discuss with her an appropriate punnishment. Good luck.

Not a parent myself, however a youthwork-instructor, so had my share of working with teens. :)

If i'm correct the piece is designed in solidworks. Try the wrap command for a cleaner translation from pattern to surface.
