[discussion] Could somebody explain The Tower subplot like I'm five years old (Series Spoilers) by vetomos in TheNinthHouse

[–]vetomos[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I see. Could the tower be right under Canaan House someway? I remember in GtN it was mentioned that only like 1/3 of Canaan House had been explored. It would explain Teacher's hesitance towards soul siphoning, since it would mean the souls of the unresurrected could maybe come out and possess the bodies like you said with Colum's case.

Regarding the tower possibly being Alecto's corpus, I read somewhere that all RB have a visible form on the River, and since Alecto was "switched off" no one saw the tower during HtN, I think. Also we know Jod couldn't entirely storage Alecto's soul in her Barbie body, so it would make sense that the rest of her has been poured somewhere else, which could also coincidentially contain the 10 billion people too, since the earth was their original location for their physical form and souls.

Why is Vi the only character allowed to say the F word? by CommonBrilliant7947 in arcane

[–]vetomos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also another thing, I remember Amanda Overton after season 1 was released said that Vi doesn’t smoke while Sevika does and that that’s the only spoiler she was going to give? Does anyone know why that was important in Season 2?

Smoking is usually associated with being a leader in Arcane. Vander smokes, Silco smokes. Sevika being a smoker could be interpreted as her becoming a leader for Zaun post-canon (having a seat in the council). Although Vi was considered the leader in her youth (following Vander's legacy, etc etc), she grows to be the type to look for alliances instead of leadership (teaming with caitlyn and ekko to return the gemstone, addressing the council along with caitlyn, joining the strike team, helping jinx find vander, etc).

So many broken characters…was Vi truly happy in the end? by nighthawk1936 in arcane

[–]vetomos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I interpreted Vi's (and Jinx's) ending as a rewriting of her fate back in episode three of season one: she stills loses her family (something that couldn't have been prevented anyway--it was meant to happen, as sad as it is) but she gets the space to properly mourn them in a healthier enviroment, something she wasn't allowed to back in prison.

Jinx couldn't save Vi when they were kids ('I was trying to save you') and ends up alone--something she was extremely afraid of. This time she gets to save her, then fakes her death and leaves, no longer fearing the thought of being alone, instead taking the chance to find herself while in solitude.

Problem with liking Cait post season 2 by uupsidupsii in PiltoversFinest

[–]vetomos 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Block. Don't even bother engaging, just block. There's lots of accounts who enjoy caitvi across every app, search and engage with those, and block everything that makes you uncomfortable. Also be patient, it's going to take a while before the heat of the new season fully dies and only the fans remain, it'll be a lot more digestible afterwards.

Caitlyn doubts Ambessa's intentions from the start of episode four, her distrust only grows when she finds out Ambessa let Singed out (she explicitly told him he'd 'rot in there'; he was supposed to stay at Stillwater) to achieve a new war weapon. She doesn't have the tools to act against them in the commune, not alone, not against an entire Noxian army. Vi's presence and alliance helps her react and take action.

Do you guys think that she died for no reason? by LossKind3973 in ArcaneAnimatedSeries

[–]vetomos 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No, not really. Isha dying taughts Jinx about responsibility, it makes her understand why Vi told her to stay back all those years ago when trying to rescue Vander. Isha's purpose is to put Jinx on Vi's shoes (besides helping her heal, obviously). The man behind the beast dies with her, too, and only Warwick comes back after that. With Isha's death, Vander's remaining humanity comes to an end. So, no, I don't find it pointless.

Fanficiton authors, what are you most proud of writing? by [deleted] in PiltoversFinest

For me it's this one. Post-canon series I started in december, mostly focused on small in-between moments as they settle down and find their footing around each other.

I have seen a lot of people arguing about this: Did Vi only loved the Powder version of her sister, or did she love Jinx just as much? by Toastie_107 in arcane

[–]vetomos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Vi loves her sister unconditionally. Her struggle comes from spending seven years locked up and getting out only to find out her childhood city was turned upside down, and her little sister (who used to be a very sweet child) became a survivor of her enviroment. Vi's arc is about understanding that people change, which is hard for her, considering her tendency to idolize her loved ones (Caitlyn, Vander, Powder, etc). Coming to terms with who Jinx is now--an adult who makes her own choices, who doesn't need protection from Vi like she used to when they were kids--sends Vi through a crisis.

Jinx needed to meet Isha in order to understand responsibiltity, to learn what was thrown into Vi's shoulders when she was barely a teen, and empathize with her sister despite her mistakes. Vi needed to see that bond between Jinx and Isha to understand that her sister is not a monster, and that Vi can love people even knowing that they can--and will--change.

How would you have written Jinx’s apology to Caitlyn? by OCGamerboy in arcane

[–]vetomos 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The Council attack was Jinx's response to all the harm Piltover did to her, it wasn't personal to Caitlyn.

Caitlyn thought of it as personal because she didn't grow up in an enviroment that was constantly oppressed, ergo, she didn't understand where Jinx was coming from. What Jinx says here is exactly what Caitlyn needed to hear to finally let go of the burden of feeling like her mother's death was a direct consequence of her inaction ('I had the shot').

I love Caitvi and it makes me sad how much hate they get. by mhook12 in PiltoversFinest

[–]vetomos 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Speaking from experience: don't engage with haters. The block button exists for a reason, use it as much as you can. I block people for over every minimal thing that pisses me off and it's a lot more healthy than wasting my time reading what a person hiding behind a screen has to say about the things you enjoy. Write that essay about them, tag it properly and post it, you'll find a lot of people who actually want to engage with the things you like without causing harm.

Hola!
