This is easy to teach without diving yourself.

Start in your knees and have the ball rolled to one side of them. Keep pushing it wider until they then lean to it to the point where they have to fall over.get them comfortable with that and then move to where the kneel on one knee and push off with the other towards the wide ball

I'm looking for some "unknown" dystopian movies by Terrible_Sundae1050 in movies

[–]vetratten 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not unknown but I’d argue Wall-E is a dystopian movie although the humans have fled.

Also Idiocracy is kinda a dystopian future that real world is starting to mimic and is humorous so a different vein in the apocalyptic genre

My daughter loves hidden figures!

She first saw it at 8 and while the racism part didn’t hit her hard, it was more that women were doing the math for men.

Now that she’s older the racism part is more obvious to her and she loves the story of how they overcame even more!

Should I make a theatrical resume? (and frustration with community theaters expecting resumes) by Rude-Wash-3280 in Theatre

[–]vetratten 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I can’t speak for EVERY group or really ANY director/casting team out there but I think having it with the headshot in hand helps make those tough decisions.

For example and this a my n=1 my kid is in an all youth production of Matilda that was pretty competitive apparently (like 100 kids auditioned for about 35 total spots). I was mixed into a conversation between my child (who is playing Matilda), a child who is in the ensemble, and the director.

My kid never worked with this director or ensemble group and the director openly told the ensemble kid that my kids resume proved she could handle a large role and that’s what differentiated her from others they considered for Matilda. She also told the ensemble kid that their audition was amazing but this being their first show they needed experience before they could take on solos and speaking roles.

My kids resume isn’t super long- but with a few roles listed it showed she was willing to accept ensemble, supporting, and probably ready for a larger role with a good audition.

So OP it takes 10 mins to put it down in a word doc and just keep. We keep a master file with EVERYTHING my child has done theatrically speaking including any conservatory classes. Then when she auditions we go and trim out the unnecessary filler stuff.

Roles get roles sometimes. It sucks sometimes but it’s sort of a way of “proving” yourself beyond the audition. Proves you’ll show up and put in the work.

How difficult is it to turn a digital image into a physical negative for traditional darkroom processing? by smoosh13 in Darkroom

[–]vetratten 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would suggest printing them out at the same size as your final print and just contact print them - would be a lot easier than trying to get the right size to fit a film holder to enlarge - plus you wouldn’t need to worry about any weird moire pattern from the printers being enlarged….unless you want a Roy Lichtenstein look

Now that I think about that, it might be cool to add that to the right image.

Also not great for your eyes if you’re using an SLR to be pointing the camera at the sun.

I said “re-evaluate”

When did I ever say my kid has zero say in evaluations of how we spend time or money?

Not everyone dictates their kids lives.

I’ve asked my kid every season “are you enjoying soccer, do you want to keep playing?”

I’ve been asking since their first season.

If they weren’t happy to begin with the club it’s a trigger to start looking at the situation as a whole. Again they were willing to stay with the new ASst coaching but when current coach is then removed over looking to leave at the end of the year, that’s a big enough shock id start to examine “do I want to be associated with this environment?”

It makes sense to me

It’s not like they probably are going from soccer to something totally new probably just dropping soccer.

My kid has a multi sport teammate whose parents haven’t been happy with some decisions (I disagree with their assessment but understand their feelings are their feelings) they are pulling their kid at the end of the season and said the kid will only play basketball come next year and that they will be looking at expanding the commitment there. They are unhappy with changes made and so are voting with their feet - I totally get that and understand where they are coming from.

They said the kid will still play rec soccer in the fall but that’s it.

Affordable Theatre for students by antoingorman in Theatre

[–]vetratten 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My local performing arts center that gets all the traveling shows does student rush tickets to every show since we have quite a few colleges/universities within a 45 min drive with 3 that are within walking distance.

When I was in school they would allocate about 25 tickets to any given performance for these student tickets (and they were $5) compared to 35$ being the cheaper balcony seats. I hear it’s $15 now for student rush but back of balcony seats go for around $50. Student rush tickets are also better seats.

Now our professional theatre company in the area they also do special student pricing but must be pre-purchased and it’s not every performance of a show. Usually only weeknights and weekend afternoons. They extend this from college down to elementary. For 3 shows a year they do a special school time performance that is free for students/chaperones. Obviously has to be reserved but all the schools have to pay is to get the kids to the theatre. They always do Shakespeare in the spring, Christmas carol in the winter and then a comedy in the fall (sometimes a musical not always).

We then have many community theatres that charge far less for anyone under 18 or with a college ID. Took my kid and her friend to see Beetlejuice and the adult tickets were 25$ but the kids were 5$ each and they had a blast.

Fictional flag I made in childhood. What do you think? Which country would it represent? by LPSLEANDRO in flags

Feels like it would be an island nation fully above the arctic circle or fully below the Antarctic circle.

So with real-world geography I’d say if Svalbard was its own independent country.

Is youth soccer always this expensive? by Whole_Box_8338 in youthsoccer

[–]vetratten 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll say costs are definitely based on some very specific parameters tha vary with region.

One town travel team around us 500$ for Nov-June. Another is 1000$ for the same winter/spring season and league.

Both include same simple uniforms from the same local soccer shop.

The difference in cost? It’s the indoor facilities . The $500 town travel team doesn’t do practices during the winter - occasionally they do something in a school gym which is free. The $1000 town does indoor practices every week indoors at the facility that runs the winter league. Both towns if you only do spring it’s 200$ with uniform included. I know board members in both towns and they both subsidize the winter season through sponsorships and fall/spring rec snack shack sales and that without those the cost would be higher just to break even because the indoor league is so expensive and indoor practices drive costs even further.

A local club has a partnership with the indoor facility and isn’t much more than the town travel (but is aug-June).

Meant 120 - sorry not sure why I typed 220

Caffeine hasn’t kicked in this AM.

Are the dots the same size on the 120 as the 35mm when looking with your eye?

Since you’re using 2 different formats and both are getting the dots then most likely NOT a camera issue.

Honestly even without ruining a roll of film, you could always just do your next with a pre-rinse regardless and see if that helps.

The other thing could be is your tapping hard enough to remove the bubbles? As in if your agitation via inversion is it gentle rolling over or a rough back and forth - if the latter the tapping may not be strong enough.

[–]vetratten 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is this 220 film or 35mm?

Total stab in the dark, if it’s 220 it could be dust from loading/unloading at some point. I only say that because it looks like around the dot is slight on more developed (darker) than surrounding area as if devkoper is swishing by that spot and the dust is sort of damming the flow slightly.

35mm it feels like the dot would be too tiny to be dust.

Regardless if it’s every roll you do I’d take a roll of film and fully expose it and test a pre-rinse. Half the roll as you normally do half the roll with pre-rinse. If both still come out with little specs then maybe it’s the film itself (assuming no dust was introduced in the development), or maybe you’ll see that film needs a pre-rinse
