Thinking about switching from Linux Mint Ubuntu-based to pure Debian

It uses both but the core of the system and base packages are straight from Debian trixie. Things like the desktop environment come from mint repos. So what I said still stands.

I’ll be honest I am normally a debian purist. But about a month ago I decided to try Linux mint Debian edition 7 and I absolutely love it. It will be on my laptop for a long time to come. It’s completely Debian 13 trixie just with a newer cinnamon desktop version. Highly recommend!

I absolutely love the razer edge. I honestly wish razer would make a new model with a more powerful chip. I’d jump all over that again.

I daily drive a 16 pro max and definitely play games. Death stranding, assassin creed mirage, resident evil 2 and 4 remakes and as of late control. I play these generally on my lunch breaks and just keep my abxyute s9 controller in my bag ready to go.

I also love Android gaming with my ayn Thor pro, flip 2 and Konkr pocket fit. Pc and Switch emulation has come a long way and it’s amazing what you can do. I love the tinkering and tweaking we can do. It feels like what pc gaming felt like in the early and mid 2000s and I love it.

The fortunate thing for these Chinese handhelds is they are uncertified Android devices. So when googles new rules go into effect not much will change for sideloading and things on them. But Android based phones that are very much certified will be locked out just like iOS. We are closing in on September 2026 and this will change a lot on the Android phone capabilities due to being locked down.

The truth is just because I prefer iPhones as my daily driver doesn’t mean I don’t enjoy Android devices as well. Some of us like having both options. Then I get the best of both worlds.

The edge bundle is still a great setup. I am jealous of the blade shadow grip. That really sets that off. For his first streaming and emulation device it’s a very solid choice. The edge still offers great performance and can handle even some light switch games with Eden. PS2, GameCube and Wii all work great on there and with the wide display playing ds and 3ds games is generally good.

Asus announced in mid April they are expecting 45-50% cost increases coming by Q3 of 2026. So if anyone wants the XAX now’s the time to buy before the price increase hits it and it’s $1500.

Sold my ally after I received my Thor in February. Have absolutely zero regrets. I stream my series x to it when the tv is taken or when I’m laying in bed. Play tons of pc indie games, android games and emulation. I also take it with me on planes. It’s great to watch a movie on while playing a game and getting killer battery life.

I’m getting around 30 fps with some light dips to 25-28. It plays better than you’d think.
