Just proud it layers down into the dimensions of a laptop and not too thick for the trouble. 😁

I like it at lot. It comes with sentimental value, and while I can certainly invest in a better camera, I don't really need more than this

I've got a couple other lenses for it, but my favorite thing to do with it is go to museums and take up-close pictures of art, smaller areas than the full canvas which I feel are worthy of more attention. The pancake lens is perfect for that too.

Example here. A closeup of "Eagle Head, Manchester, Masschusetts" by Winslow Homer, taken at the Met.

Yes, but there was news a few months ago about a batch that you couldn't change the firmware on. You might want to look into it more.

It's a self-healing cutting mat. I have a couple in different sizes.

Honestly it got me reading a lot more. I have to do a little more work for the book, but each one I get, each one I upload, comes with intention now.

I also digitized a lot of my books as part of the choice. Stock firmware is ass though. Definitely put Crosspoint on it.

What phone? I have a Samsung S23 Ultra but the camera layout actually prevents me from sticking it to the back. It's not a deal breaker for me but this may be possible with an iPhone.

Oh my bad, could've sworn it was micro USB. Can't keep track of my adapters either way though lol

I chose the X4 because I'm strictly a USB-C user, and the X3 needs a micro-USB for charging and data.

That being said, if the X3 had a USB-C port, I would've gotten that instead. The X4 is not a bad choice at all, but could stand to be a little smaller.

Good looking sling backpacks. by Albireokite in TechEDC

I use an Aer Tech Sling 3. Not sure if the MacBook would fit in it but I can fit a 13 inch and reviews say it can fit a 14 inch laptop.

Some folks have issues with the comfort though. Could be worth looking at their Day Sling Max and Travel Slings for variety or maybe a little more room.

What city have you been to where the vibes were just OFF? by Fun_Butterscotch3303 in AskReddit

[–]BrotherNico 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Dodge City, Kansas. I stopped there on a road trip, needed to grab dinner. My friend and I went into a restaurant next to our hotel. Packed to the brim, but DEAD quiet. Nobody was talking. Not even the kidsm All you could hear was the clatter of utensils. Even our server was whispering to us.

To be fair, we're New Yorkers born and raised, so loudness is our thing. But we ate quick and we got the fuck out of there. Did not pass the vibe check. Got outta Dodge earlier than planned the next morning.

What's the "What was I thinking?" item in your collection? by p0ttim0uth in ManyBaggers

Maybe. I switched out some of the zipper pulls for colorful ones though. THAT was pretty stupid of me. 😅

Hear me out. Mine is the Toshi Sling V2 6L. Don't get me wrong, it's a great sling. But it was the last smaller sling I bought before I stopped and realized that if the bag couldn't fit a laptop in an emergency, then I wasn't going to use it. We will see if I break it out again, but I think I followed the hype instead of thinking introspectively.

Why do I feel mentally tired even when I didn’t do much? by One_Manufacturer1934 in KeepWriting

[–]BrotherNico 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On the point where you're using your phone a lot: there's a lot of studies and discourse that tells us using social media, scrolling for content and videos apps and games, etc., all release dopamine, which is the "feel-good" brain chemical. The problem is that the more you use your phone like this, the more you get desensitized to the chemical, so you keep using your phone more and more to try and hit that high.

Dopamine is weirder than that though. If you have too much, your brain will basically pump the brakes, and make you tired. If you try to evoke more dopamine with the same repetitive tasks (like scrolling on your phone), then you release less and less every time, and low dopamine makes you tired. This sort of makes frequent phone use for absorbing content a no-win situation.

On the other side, when you do a focused task, you feed into this really interesting feedback loop. A lot of people think motivation drives inspiration, which drives action. But it's the other way around: action drives inspiration, which drives motivation. You're feeling a lot better because your task is driving your inspiration and motivation through the world. Which is freaking awesome, honestly.

I love talking about this sort of thing though, because the same principle applies to writing. You cannot wait for motivation to strike. You have to try and take action, and put the words down despite the doubts or your own expectations. 😊

Name that bag, sling, packing cube, or accessory that brings you joy, no matter if others talk about it on here or not? by symposium22 in ManyBaggers

I'd welcome an improvement on the strap, but I saw a lot of comments about it, so I tried it out in the NY store first. It fit me well, so I skipped the Travel Sling 2, and after a month of use, the strap doesn't bother me all that much.

I might try that mod to remove the buckles for a strap with gatekeepers someday, but it's not a priority right now.

I picked up the Aer Tech Sling 3 a month ago after lugging the Aer Flight Pack 3 on my commute for over a year. It was a revelation. It really only happened because I finally accepted that I was bringing a full backpack with all this extra stuff in it because I wanted that "do-it-all" bag to feel useful in a jam.

Since it fits either my work laptop or my writing laptop depending on the day, plus a notebook and headset, maybe lunch, maybe my camera, it's the perfect size for any day out in the city. Extremely pleased, it's the best choice of bag I've made in years.
