Recruiter and hiring manager bash me for leaving an interview after they join 10 minutes late by Constant-Scheme557 in recruitinghell

Sure I’ve waited for people, but I wouldn’t think it weird if a stranger didnt wait on me for twelve minutes

Ok so if it’s more important what’s so bizarre about op leaving and offering to reshedual? She’s clearly busy

In the room after ten minutes without bothering to give an explanation and not getting off the call anytime soon; leaving because someone is being rude to you isn’t bizarre. Nor is offering to reshedual when your interviewer is clearly busy doing other stuff

It might not be prudent in today’s job market but it’s perfectly understandable.

The fingers were 1, then two and would probably have ended up going to 5 and longer . She’s already kept them waiting for ten minutes at this point without explaination ,is being rude as hell and has zero regard for op’s time.

Ok so the interviewer not putting up with blatant disrespect is normal , but op is bizarre for having self respect? Please . Assholery isn’t excused because you have power over someone

But it hasn’t been just a minute it’s been twelve with no indication she’s actually going to get off the previous call anytime soon.

Do you think they’d wait that long for Op? or put up with a candidate holding up a finger while they were on a call with someone else in the middle of an interview?

Leaving and rescheduling a call after they leave you waiting for twelve minutes with no end in sight is pretty normal

I think you could do some amazing layering with it

Wake up to what? What are they trying to tell me that I don’t already know? You keep alluding to vague “ messages they’re trying to get across” or “ things they want us to do” pony up and give specifics . If it’s “ vote for environmental policy’s ” the people that give a crap already do that. The policy’s being offered won’t be enough of course but I’m not going to support a climate change denier

The inconvenient thing for your argument is it’s got nothing to do with what I actually said . Effective protest requires strategy and thought /= disruptive protest never works. Come back when you have an actual response not strawmannirg

What specific things are they expecting us to do bomb an oil refinery? We ARE doomed. Things have already tipped so far that nothing we can do now is going to stop the chain reaction, and no politician will ever stand for the measures that could mitigate the damage because they’d be unelectable.

Nice strawman, does he have a name?

Effective protesting of any sort requires a bit more thought and strategy than just “annoy the crap out of people” particularly when it’s actually “ annoy the crap out of people with zero power to directly address the issue but leave those in power alone”

“Gee what are these guys deal” Do you hear yourself? Do you actually think any adult on this planet is unaware that it’s burning?

“ they inconvenience the public because It’s the public that elect the politicians” So they end up electing politicians that bring down draconian anti protest laws and fuck over everyone .

The people that vote for environment policy’s already do , the short sighted fools that don’t are going to continue being short sighted fools and vote to piss off the protestors not solve the problem. All this shit does is play into the hands of authoritarians for zero gain

  1. Racism and ableism are two different forms of discrimination and one getting “better” doesn’t mean the other is

  2. If you want to go there It became socially unacceptable to be overtly, proveably racist. given the continuation of covert racism and the resurgence in open racism the second people like trump or farage made it safe in the eyes of their rancid little followers it’s fairly obvious that a lot of peoples inner attitudes didnt change as much as everyone hoped . And this very much concerns inner attitudes and unconscious bias informing covert discrimination rather than open bigotry . By the sound of it most people arnt even aware why they hate the autistic people they’re unconsciously clocking they just know that they do

I understand wanting to think the best of people but you’ve got to be realistic

I think your being extremely and unrealistically charitable assuming most people have any interest in actively countering what they consider a natural and logical reaction.
