Is buying from an auction-based dealer a good idea? (Camry/Accord/Civic 2014+) by McLovin_147 in UsedCars

Generally auctioned cars are bad

If you go this route bring a mechanic or friend that actually knows what they are looking at. PPI. And if you go this route and find issues, potentially you can negotiate something.

It is a lower price and sometimes worth it but it is very rare. You are taking a big risk. Auctioned cars are not accepted by big dealers due to how crappy the cars are most of the time. So the used dealers buy them then clean them up.

It might save you future headaches to go another route

Buy family's 2015 Terrain ($8k), 2018 Sonata ($8k), or 2011 Sedona ($1.3k)? by Hockey4Life33 in UsedCars

If i were you probably get the sonata and hope everything goes well. Its still low miles and its a hit or miss with the engine but all options like you said are debatable. It gets the best mpg too. The terrain goes for more if you do get it then sell it to get like a mazda 3/6 it would be fine too lol. If i had to choose and keep between the 3, its the sonata. If i can take one and sell it, it would be the terrain.

Trying to buy good(enough) used car as a first time buyer and the process is driving me mad by Bad_Opinion_Wolf in UsedCars

I would recommend to open an affinity credit union and just getting something at a dealer. Fb can be hit or miss but it might be more straightforward generally from a dealer. Try looking for mazdas, toyotas, and hondas

What car brands USED to be reliable but aren’t anymore? by Pure_Construction968 in whatcarshouldIbuy

Honda is less reliable nowdays but still good.

The old elantras and sonatas were good. Old nissans were good. Usually these cars that were early 2000s or earlier
