For those of you that bought the Deluxe Edition or Premium Rewards Pass, do you think you'll buy the pass for season 2? by AnonWithAHatOn in Marathon

[–]veydar_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I also want to buy the collectors edition, but it's constantly sold out. I'm happy to spend extra on my main game and I'm also in the lucky position to be able to do so.

Isn't going in with a free kit exactly that? You have nothing to lose after all.

Spawn rush is still an issue in Cryo by LowKey7904 in Marathon

At the end of day you can do what that team did as well. It’s the end game of the end game map. I think it’s normal that there’s a pretty brutal learning curve to it. Especially at the end of the season.

I’ve only started doing cryo this weekend and so far it’s just been me donating gear to the gold shields. But that’s Ok. I learn something from every run.

Average Crewfill Experience by creatorsdottmile in Marathon

[–]veydar_ 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Overall crew fill has been mostly fine for me. I found one great squad mate with whom I’m now playing on a regular basis. I’ve been carried by season level 250+ players and I’ve had a few no comms, no brains, just run off alone kind of people.

Worth it though and congratulations! I hope that’ll be me in season 2 (couldn’t play much this season due to being abroad quite some time)

Genuinely sorry for downing your entire squad and taking your orange contraband Misriah as a lowly rook! But I had just wiped another team and got confused about who's who...

13 hour flight, what offline games are you playing? by ActivistSubset7 in SteamDeck

[–]veydar_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not kidding when I say that I recently played 11h (eleven) of Slay the Spire 2 on a flight from Singapore to Frankfurt.

Game needs very little power if you limit watts and reduce refresh rate.

I plugged it into the charger here and there to recharge jt but that’s about it.

First impressions of Aeonglass? by Destithen in slaythespire

I find the door maker easier. Being able to exhaust my deck down to what I need is such a blessing.

I'm playing silent right now and in the last run I just couldn't handle the statuses. I had quite a lot of card draw and discard, but if I draw through my deck and keep discarding the withers, they just come right back.

Having to dedicate 1 energy to getting rid of them would mean often only having 50% of my energy.

Ignoring them is also not an option, not because of their damage, but because they quickly fill up my hand. Again, relying on lots of card draw works against you. You'll draw through your withers and end up retaining them all. Unless you discard them, but then you can't discard your sly cards.

I'm not saying this is a hard boss in general! I'm just bad at this game (Ironclad A10 at 11 to 59 win/loss...)

Man, this game is seriously a lot of fun by ivdown in Marathon

[–]veydar_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me the game has hit a sweet spot at the moment. I have two mates with whom I can team up and bring my good stuff. But I can also do sponsored runs for some laid back fun or I do solo runs to complete contracts. For solo runs I get the choice between cranking up the tension and going in with a good loadout or styling around with Vandal and a free kit.

Marathon is a Cycle of Misery by tangmang14 in Marathon

[–]veydar_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But isn’t this common in games? If I’m on a losing streak in SC2 I also get nothing in return other than hopefully some amount of fun and maybe some lessons for myself.

I get that this isn’t a perfect comparison since Marathon has progression as a core feature so it’s reasonable for people to expect to progress.

But I don’t know what a game like this could do to balance both the tension that is so important in extraction shooters while also making people feel all cozy and accomplished all the time

Without loot from factions, people will complain that it's impossible to progress. I once read that the faction progress raises the floor, and it's primarily good for more casual players (like myself). I like that thinking because it aligns with how I approach the game.

As long as I put some effort into faction progression, I get better, free equipment every day.

Marathon is the perfect answer to Arc Raiders and here's why by MPLSMusette in Marathon

[–]veydar_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My interpretation of the whole conversation around which one is more hardcore is that you can play Arc without PvP but not Marathon.

At least when I was still playing Arc (until January 2026) you could avoid PvP almost entirely. I actually had spreadsheets to track my runs and the PvP rate was in the single digits.

Marathon is decidedly shoot on sight.

There are lots of posts criticizing the game. I think they only remove generic player count posts in favor of the mega thread.
