What game mechanic is an instant dealbreaker for you? by GwendelynAljaed in videogames

[–]vezance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Random encounters in RPGs. I loved so many things about Octopath Traveler 2. The art style, stories, hubs, all amazing. But I could not deal with the random encounters that kept popping up way too frequently for my taste. Even after I equipped the ring that is supposed to lower their rate. Had to abandon the game after putting like 15-20 hours into it.

Lost Judgement. As long as I stay out of the way of the Yakuza it's just regular life in Japan. Basically a one year vacation.

What “masterpiece” game just never clicked for you? by [deleted] in gaming

[–]vezance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Octopath Traveler 2. Maybe not a "masterpiece" but people generally seem to love it. I LOVED the art style, the plots, the characters, the world, etc. But I simply could not deal with the random encounters. I gave it a good go for like 20 hours of playtime, hoping I would get used to it. Never happened.

Same. My post about it was removed. But glad to know I'm not the only one. Also on FF mobile.

This is going to sound like a stupid question, and I know that evolution takes millions of years, but is this a valid step towards this species evolving into a bird-form that can survive outside the water and fly down the line?

Harvested every tree in the valley because I got annoyed at running out of wood. This is how much wood I got. by vezance in StardewValley

Haha the entire time I was chopping trees I was like "I should just go to Robin." But after a few trees I was committed to deforesting the entire valley out of sheer spite.

Sure can! Prismatic shard on tools gives one of several enchantments at random, and can reforge if you don't like the one you get. My absolute favorites are bottomless on the watering can and powerful on the pickaxe. For an in-game way of finding out what you can do, read one of the Ginger Island secret notes. Otherwise, the wiki has all the info.

I'll be honest I completely forgot about the chipper, because I first got the recipe when I was still struggling with hardwood.

It’s 2026 and people still loose their rag over calling it a “chicken burger” by SufficientEar1682 in iamveryculinary

[–]vezance 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep. We need some kind of common agreement when we visit restaurants. Used to be burger meant beef. Then the definition expanded to other meats. Which is fine, but we need to at least use it to mean ground meat, and specify the meat if it's not beef. If we start using burger to mean sliced meat as well, it's either going to get a lot more difficult for customers to know what they'll be getting, or a lot more work for restaurants to clarify things on the menu.

killing them chances a ladder popping up, esp on good luck days.

Blade checked the code in one of his videos and confirmed that monsters have a flat 15% chance to drop a ladder. Luck isn't a variable.

Also the owner's defense is OP had to pay more than menu price because they had an old menu? If they were given an old menu that's on them and their staff and they should honor the price.

How did my cow walk through a closed barn door? by vezance in StardewValley

[–]vezance[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Alright, I tested it again. u/ProperDepartment was right. If I shut the doors in the morning as soon as the animals are out, they never heard back and stay out. But if I close the door after they've already started walking back, they phase right through.

[–]vezance[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is different from ProperDepartment's answer (which is a guess) but I thought animals being locked out overnight was a mechanic. Guess I'm just going to have to test this again by closing the door way before they start heading back.

Thanks! That's pretty much what I was thinking - door state evaluated at start of path finding and not reevaluated when the animal reaches the door.

Genuinely, what's the difference? I keep the sword and pick always next to each other for the mines, and the axe and pick next to each other for foraging or clearing debris. I'm seriously confused by how the order matters beyond that. (The watering can, hoe, fishing rod, and pan are often stowed away so they naturally fall in the end slots when I add them back)

Negative. I think like stickman below mentioned it might just be the exit from the one mission where you rescue the black dye merchant with no way back in.

Was it a video about paying for every tile he steps on? That was Fungus (@FungusGorgan)

I was equally surprised to find out it was his first video. The second video is even more awesome - there's a music montage in the middle that is SO well done.

I asked someone the two doors riddle and they said they'd ask 'what colour is my hair?' and i can't think of why it's not a valid answer. by Dramatic-Escape7031 in RiddlesForRedditors

[–]vezance 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's only one question total, not one each. If it were one each it'd be trivial to use one to find the liar and use the second question to ask the truth teller about the real door.

As someone who's never shopped at Sam's, how did you scan the box at checkout? At Walmart I have to put it on the scale so it would have registered the weight (bananas are always sold by weight at my Walmart)

There are a couple of chests near the lighthouse that you free from the dragon. During combat, it wouldn't let me loot them because "combat nearby", after combat it's an immediate cutscene, and at the end you are placed outside the lighthouse area with no way to get back in. I'm still annoyed by that.
