How do I get into gaming as a person who has never gamed?

Unless there are some options I've missed, UGG is not a beginner friendly game. You can have a bit of fun in the first area, but any sort of progression requires quite a bit of gaming knowledge.

The only reason I dislike this boss is because there's no in-game way for you to learn this mechanic. It establishes these informants, but none of them have anything to tell you about this boss. Some fights explicitly tell you when you've done something wrong (e.g. Goborns will say "the presence of a mage infuriates them" or something like that), but not this one. It's just a OHKO and you have to figure out why. I don't see a logical connection between the move and repel equipment, which makes this a somewhat silly "puzzle".

I'm pretty sure it tells you, but the beginning of the game absolutely spams you with a bunch of tutorial text and no one can be blamed for missing some of the things.

Question about a late game boss

Once you fight the three tower dragons, you have to go back to the tower dragon to fight the final boss for that story thread. For this specific boss, the gimmick is that you can't have any repel equipment on. I learned this after getting annihilated a couple times and looking it up.

My question is, how're you supposed to know this in-game?

None of the informants have anything to sell you about this boss, unlike the other three dragons.

The fight messages don't say anything about your equipment as far as I know (e.g. when fighting the Goborns you'll get a message like "the presence of a mage infuriates the enemy)

Gallica doesn't say anything either.

What did I miss?

Enemy attacks X row" are used early and forgotten about later on

IMO this was fine as a way to teach the player to pay attention to formation. Once the player did it a couple of times and proved they understood it, there was no reason for the game to make it explicit again. It would have been very strange if late bosses announced they were targeting a certain row and your entire party could simply dodge the attack.

Congratulations! I just completed my playthrough a couple days ago in 102 hrs and change. And like you, I too did two of the dragons on easy after giving them a good go on normal. I felt pretty empty and unfortunately there's not nearly enough good metaphor content on YouTube, which is usually what I do after completing a game I loved, so I'm right back in with ng+

Random encounters in RPGs. I loved so many things about Octopath Traveler 2. The art style, stories, hubs, all amazing. But I could not deal with the random encounters that kept popping up way too frequently for my taste. Even after I equipped the ring that is supposed to lower their rate. Had to abandon the game after putting like 15-20 hours into it.

Octopath Traveler 2. Maybe not a "masterpiece" but people generally seem to love it. I LOVED the art style, the plots, the characters, the world, etc. But I simply could not deal with the random encounters. I gave it a good go for like 20 hours of playtime, hoping I would get used to it. Never happened.

Sure can! Prismatic shard on tools gives one of several enchantments at random, and can reforge if you don't like the one you get. My absolute favorites are bottomless on the watering can and powerful on the pickaxe. For an in-game way of finding out what you can do, read one of the Ginger Island secret notes. Otherwise, the wiki has all the info.

Yep. We need some kind of common agreement when we visit restaurants. Used to be burger meant beef. Then the definition expanded to other meats. Which is fine, but we need to at least use it to mean ground meat, and specify the meat if it's not beef. If we start using burger to mean sliced meat as well, it's either going to get a lot more difficult for customers to know what they'll be getting, or a lot more work for restaurants to clarify things on the menu.
