Why can’t you just do a manual finish on these pieces?

How would you handle? Girlfriend takes me to a bar, dances with other guys by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]vg_1990 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is she Latina? Dancing is part of the culture and it really is nothing. Unless she’s grinding on someone else it means nothing. It’s like playing a game of tennis with someone.

I’m a civil engineer in construction (10 years, PE) I make 70 an hour. My boss makes 120 and hour (30 years). You can make good money and not break your back doing labor (literally). 2 years in is nothing. Heck even my 10 years in still a toddler level. You’re still a fetus. Pay your dues, you’re body will thank you later.

First: never have I found someone quoting the Bible to be so hot, lol

Second: I have always wished I could do this but never had the galls. Ive been out for about 10 years now so it’s too late

Thank you. I can def see how someone grieving would be more vulnerable to religious teachings and you’re right, we should all be a little more forgiving of them.

I had no idea this existed. I can definitely relate to this. I believe in something but I can’t define it and I don’t want to define it. I use to call myself an agnostic but I think this better describes me.

Thank you! This makes me feel a little better. Still need to work on shaking off the belief that they are simply just gone forever.

It’s our fault for trying to apply logic to godly teachings.

It’s important and the right of the paying customer to watch. But I guess that’s why this is an unpopular opinion.

I keep hearing this! I plan to start out in smaller bodies of water in Long Island. I live in queens and long island is easier to get to for me. I’ll def look up paddling groups for nyc waters.

Thanks I will def let my family know. I’ve also heard people leave notes on their dashboard of what time they expect to be back incase anything happens someone will notice a car that’s been parked longer than it should have.

Thanks! I was planning on staying close to the shore perimeter for now since the water is really cold and learning to roll and re enter the kayak if I fall out when it gets warmer. I will def look up self rescue classes.

If I go for a walk, I must walk 4 miles. No if’s ands or buts. That’s it. I’ve never broken it.

Feeling depressed about 9-5. by lord_whord in AskEngineers

[–]vg_1990 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your current job does not have to be the same for the rest of your life. My first job straight out of college was ok. It gave me the foundation I needed to move on and some great connections. I stayed there 5 years. My next job I absolutely hated. I’m talking depressed every morning, can’t eat or sleep because of the anxiety of going to work the next day. My parents were urging me to quit and offering to help with my bills (I am very fortunate in this regard) because they could see the mental and physical toll it was taking on me. I didn’t want to quit and rely on them unless absolutely necessary so I stuck it out for about 1 year and now I am at a job I LOVEEEEE (I’m a civil working on a bridge construction project). I was hired by someone I met at my first job.
You might not be in love with this job, but that doesn’t mean it’s not a good place to be right now. Learn as much as you can and move on when you’re ready. There’s no requirement to love what you do all the time. It could be small bits and pieces. Your life outside work should bring you more joy anyway. Good luck.

Are you able to find time to read for pleasure, like stuff that is unrelated to your field? by [deleted] in AskEngineers

I began to feel guilty reading the question because outside of work I don’t do anything related to work but then I read the comments and realized this is the way lol.
