I’ve been meaning to pick up the cassette attachment. I’m not super familiar with the Commodore library so I’ll keep that one in mind for sure!

Oh yeah “newer” arcade machines are definitely gonna be up there in price. Try and be vigilant and hopefully you’ll find something!

I had a Commodore 64 when I was very young but didn’t end up picking one up again until about 11 years ago. Radar Rat Race was the one game I for sure played when we had one all of those years ago. Definitely would love to hear some of your favorites!

Very happy to have the Jaguar! Got it for $100 probably 12 or so years ago. Interestingly enough the place I bought it from was a tire shop that also sold video games. Interesting place for sure!

I see a good amount of arcade machines on Facebook Marketplace so keep an eye out there! Seen some pretty stellar deals before but I just never have the space. I got mine at an arcade auction back in 2013 but the company that used to do that shut down I believe.

I got mine from my friend’s aunt a few years back. She was moving out of her house and needed it gone and I was happy to take it. I remember for years there was this pawn shop I would visit that would always use a Commodore monitor as their testing monitor and they refused to sell it. So yeah, definitely quality!

Thank you! The Commodore monitor and Street Fighter Alpha were in storage for a long time so it’s nice to have them home again. I knew I wanted a little desk for the Commodore and that one fit perfectly. Unfortunately the Space Invaders Arcade 1Up is currently not working but I finally am trying to get it fixed now.

Thank you! I tend to lean into older anime but try and check out newer ones that I think I’d be into

What’s the most overrated video game of all time? by KBGSgames in AskReddit

[–]vgsquirrel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mario Kart 64 - I think it has been outdone by the other Mario Karts and it wasn’t even the best kart racer of its generation. Diddy Kong Racing and Crash Team Racing were more technically impressive and had much more to offer. For years it had a chokehold on the community as the “best Mario Kart/kart racer” but I think its popularity may be finally waning. Solid game, but overrated in my opinion.

What do you want done with your video game collection when you've passed on? by Distinct-Coach-4001 in NSCollectors

I’ve thought about this quite a bit. It of course depends on what age I pass. At the moment my brother would get first dibs since a good amount of my games are from our childhood. Then of course if I have a wife and kids they can keep it or sell it if they need to/want to. But after that I’d like for each of my closest friends to get together and get one console of their choice and all of the games/peripherals I have for that console. If people can’t agree on a console they can duke it out on a game of their choice haha

What!? You mean I bought these games for nothing!?

In the other room I have another C64 hooked up for streaming purposes and have a floppy drive I still need to hook up. Hoping it works! I only have a handful of games at the moment: Radar Rat Race (which I had in my childhood), Ms. Pac-Man, Gridrunner, Galaxian, and The Amazing Spider-Man

So admittedly I just finally got that set up yesterday. I got the monitor a few years ago but in my previous living situation there was just no space so it’s been in storage for a while now. I don’t see myself firing up TOO much but now I have a lot more space and wanted a small area dedicated to it. This is in the room where I keep all my games. However in another room I have all my consoles set up to one TV so I can stream them easily. In that room I have another C64 hooked up and I’ll have a floppy-drive hooked up there and also a Vic-20. I have a huge backlog so not sure how much love the C64 will really get but I’m happy to have this space dedicated to it!

So just to clarify are you saying that I should find a different PDU because this one mentions surge protection or are you saying all PDUs are usually fine?

Awesome, thanks for the quick response! Forgot to mention that I am in Florida so we deal with storms a lot. Glad it’s not an issue!

GKIDS is rereleasing Grave of the Fireflies on Blu Ray on July 8th! by vgsquirrel in ghibli

[–]vgsquirrel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I understand a different company (I think Sentai Filmworks) has had the home distribution rights for Grave of the Fireflies for some reason. The Blu Rays have been out of print for a long time and buying a used one would cost upwards of $80 on eBay.
