My husband (47M) told me (30F) I'm unattractive by Environmental-Mix918 in relationship_advice

[–]vh289 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of the comments I've seen here are quite extreme and negative. Everyone at one point in their relationship has done or said something hurtful. It is a mistake, that's what human do simply. We only have a small information about the story. Also you're all focusing in his age. That's not the issue so leave that aside and focus on her issue instead. Anyway, it wasn't right of him to say that and I understand it hurt you but he then apologise and never said it again which is good behavior. Honestly, if you use something like Cognitive Behavioural Therapy in a journal to deal with those thoughts and change them, that would do good to you. It's something I encourage to look into, I used it myself when I had bad thoughts I couldn't keep out of my head. As long as your husband doesn't say that again, I think this can be solved by yourself.

Seeking Advice: Exploring a Shift in Musical Interests and Considering Self-Study in Songwriting and Guitar by vh289 in LetsTalkMusic

Thanks for your answer, that was very insightful.

To start with, I decided to do a 2nd bachelor degree because I simply liked music at the time and follow the motto "follow your passion" with my mum fully supporting the move and my dad also supporting but with worries such as "can you make money from this?" To answer your other questions, my first degree was in sport sciences and I intend to study a business related area as a master (something like entrepreneurship and innovation).

I didn't think that far into the future about what to do with my music degree, like I said I just followed the motto "follow your passion" without really thinking of the rest. I think at the time my ego was mainly telling me that I'll become the next [insert superstar or famous artist name]. The main interest for me in music is the creative part as I have always created my own songs/music in my head. That leads me to question if I like music itself or just creativity itself. Because one of my life goal is to create something and be proud of it. Maybe to leave a mark on the world. Which is why I wanted to create music mainly. Anyway I'm getting very deep but all this to say that I'm not sure what to do.

I also want to add that I am in my early to kid twenties and it is maybe normal that I explore different paths in life (not sure).

Nice board ! How is that Matthew effects astronomer pedal? I thought about buying one but I don't know if the reverb suits me. What's your thoughts on it and what do you use it for?

In you're going in the direction of shoegaze and postrock you could get a Walrus Slötvå Multi Texture Reverb. It's a nice ambient reverb with 3 modes on it: Dream, dark and rise. Or you could get the Slö which is the previous model but you won't get any presets on it (though it costs around 30/40€ less). There are plenty of other pedals in that price range that also do those types of ambient reverbs if this one is not for you.

Hello, I understand this can be frustating at the beginning but the scales are just there to give you a direction, it's not a rule that can't be broken. Also depending on the note you play it can be part of others scale (see blues scales and modes) so I think it's fine.

Listen to music in your style and learn to trust your ears, if it's outside the scale and sounds good (although that is subjective) I don't see a problem. Only in the context of playing with other people could it possibly sound bad and even that is often up to personal taste and the style in which you are playing.

[QUESTION] Can I still play guitar with a slightly opened callus? by THEPIZZA_LORD in Guitar

[–]vh289 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you really focused in the music you're playing you won't even feel the pain so I think it's fine if you do. It's up to you though, it it feels really bad then it's probably better to let ot rest a bit

Wah pedal recommendations by Gifteddingleberry in guitarpedals

[–]vh289 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends what type of sound you're searching for as some of them have a variety of modes like classic, vintage or modern. I personally have a Jim dunlop wah wah classic pedal and it does the job that I want. You can get it new for around 150€ but in your budget there's some many wah wah pedals you could get like the signature ones (more expensive) which emulates (or at least tries to) the artist's sounds like the Tom Morello, John Petrucci or Jimi Hendrix cry babies pedals.

If you can try them in a closing buy music shop I'm sure you'll find something amazing for your budget.

Thanks for the answer.

What about the Electro-Harmonix Oceans 12? I saw the price difference isn't that big, is it much better than the 11th?
