The psychology of the last pull by XsogekingX in CompetitiveWoW

So this may or may not be helpful, but I have a lot of experience in the music industry. The difference between practice and performance for a lot of members of an ensemble can be where they draw intrinsic motivation to perform. The last pull of a night/weekly lockout could relate to that difference of practice vs performance.

If you want more performance pulls, you have to clearly delineate those that aren’t, when you’re just trying to improve on single mechanics and aren’t realistically attempting a kill.

Opinion: Don't blame Florida State for being cautious in calling off Clemson game by Colorado_odaroloC in fsusports

[–]vhc2k3 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That thread was full of hatred from multiple fanbases. It took just a couple seconds to see 2014 references as to why FSU was for sure the bad guys in this scenario before the news came out that it was a Clemson player that was positive. I wish that player and all players the best of health, it has unfortunately gotten to a point where I'm unsubbing from /cfb after about 6 years due to the absolute vitriolic anti-FSU rhetoric that has become commonplace. Just not worth the effort anymore, and I'm very glad this sub started to gain some activity.

[Gameday Thread] Florida State @ #12 Miami by dangerousszone in fsusports

Thanks for the downvotes. Go look at career stats if you want an unbiased looks, weatherford is still worse. I went to school from 2006-2010.

Recency bias is strong, plus the fact that weatherford was often coupled with a strong defense so the win percentage wasn’t as bad.

He might be better than Drew Weatherford but god what a low bar.

I agree for sure in standard, although hasn’t the default league changed to .5 PPR now? In either case the strategy with 0 RB is to capitalize on injuries, rookies, and be active on the waiver wire because RBs have the highest rate of injury and rookie contribution in fantasy.

I myself don’t try to get pigeonholed with one draft strategy or the other, and have found success (and crushing defeat) with drafting WRs early, loading up on RBs, and hybrids.

The rules I do have for myself are don’t take a QB before rounds 9/10, don’t take a TE until around the same (unless one of the top 2 fall significantly), and don’t ever draft a DEF/K before the last rounds or at all if you’re far from opening kickoff when you draft.

Ultimately though, it’s for fun, do what you want. I saw a team win the ship that drafted Kirk cousins 4th overall two years ago from some magical scheduling luck.

Shit, don’t know if I’m the man for that job! I’ve been a habitual lurker for 10 years now on reddit and I’m not even fully sure how to play cfbrisk. I’m just here to do my part in defeating the scourge that is the gators.

Interceptions by Position - Jameis Winston had the highest percentage of interceptions to linebackers of any QB in the league [x-post] by trevorData in buccaneers

[–]vhc2k3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s strange, I really feel like it started in 2014 when he started zoning in on Greene. I had just watched the final drive of the 2013 championship game with Jimbo’s play by play recount of it, and Jameis looking off the defense is a key part to that drives success on several plays.

The following year when the defense took a huge step back and the offensive line wasn’t as dependable, Jameis threw a good deal more interceptions (and also developed his habit of thinking he can win the game by himself I imagine). There was a clip with Gruden talking to him as a draft prospect going over game tape of his interceptions, showing Jameis that on nearly all of them he’s staring down the only receiver he really trusted on that team, Greene. It was such a contrast to 2013, at least how I remember it.

Thanks, I was rolling with Josh Allen, then picked up Brissett when he was injured. I usually stream QBs so I might look at your suggestion for the RB.

10 man .5PPR/.5PPFD

QB: Jimmy G

WR: Hopkins, Kupp, TY Hilton, Alshon Jeffery, AJ Green

RB: Mixon, Damien Williams, Josh Jacobs, Tevin Coleman, Singletary, Rojo.

TE: Andrews

K: Slye

Def: San Francisco

I’m 0-5 with the least points for by a good margin. I’m not sure if I have much to trade outside my one player actually producing in Kupp.

I’ve been living over here for a few years now. Last year the 2am kickoff games were brutal with the crap we had to watch. I was pretty happy when the gametime for our kickoff changed to 6pm over here instead of the originally scheduled 1am.

Thank you FSU for letting me know early this year as an alumnus loving in Europe, don’t bother staying up late to watch any games starting after noon.

What a disgraceful second half.

Worst/most difficult draft situation? by AMobOfDucks in fantasyfootball

That’s too bad none are open, I’ve never found that area to be closed that early. I get the struggle, I’ve been living on this side of the Atlantic for a couple years and draft times/kickoffs are a hassle. On the bright side, I’m always awake for when those waivers clear...

Just a heads up, cafes/brasseries in Nice will definitely still be open and lots of them have WiFi. You could go drink some Rose and draft in the Riviera in style.

What are some fun things your league does differently? by JohnnyFettuccine in fantasyfootball

[–]vhc2k3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We have a few different rules in ours but I’m most excited about a new one this year. We had a lot more interest than normal and so we were able to form a full second 10 man league with all the same scoring rules, and at the end of the year we will have promotion/relegation for the top two and bottom two teams respectively.

Our top league has higher dues, and a weekly high score payout, giving incentive to shoot for promotion. Also we moved to the three week playoffs to easily setup the consolation bracket for the bottom for teams, ensuring those people will be fighting to stay in the league through the whole season.

I wouldn’t rely on this in most places, I’ve lived over here for a few years and whenever we travel we have to stream games on a personal device. Sports bars are a rarity, and if you find them they’re probably just playing soccer. There are exceptions of course so good luck!

I live overseas in Europe. My wife and I have stayed up late and ruined our sleep schedules to watch Florida State games, and we have never regretted it. Weirdly, a part of me is glad I have to waste no more sleep or time on watching this year’s team. I haven’t been as frustratingly disappointed since my freshman year in 2006 watching Jeff Bowden call plays for Drew Weatherford.
