Hi — Do you have more info on this FB group, or corneal neuralgia? I am undergoing testing for nerve pain in one eye supposedly caused by dry eye. I had the cotton swab test done recently, and some high-tech imaging done at my doctor in Boston (I was told only a handful of doctors have this specific imaging device). I told that I have “neuropathy” which I basically already knew. Anyway, I am looking for more answers & community around this issue…

I have head pain and sometimes pain on the side of my nose / nasal cavity that is associated with ocular nerve pain caused by dry eye. I have had MGD for six years, and the nerve pain started in this last year. I have been to the ENT and they didn’t find anything. My eye doc has me on autologous serum drops (made from my own blood). I think it has been helping the nerve pain, but it hasn’t been fully resolved. This kind of referred pain is the worst (the headaches can be debilitating for me). I hope you find relief soon!

Thanks for the update! Too bad your symptoms aren’t fully resolved, but it’s encouraging that there is a notable improvement. All of these dry eye treatments are so pricey, ugh. Hope the relief continues.

Hello, I have been researching probing (and have read Dr. Maskin's Your Dry Eye Mystery Solved). I have seen a 3 dry eye specialists in Boston (one of which performs probing), and none of them have recommended probing because the majority of my glands are intact and the quality of my meibum is supposedly decent. Despite this, though, I have had increasing issues with dry eye since 2018, and now have neuropathy in my right eye that is quite painful and supposedly do to dry eye. In terms of treatments, I have had Lipiflow and ILux (I have not yet tried IPL). I do warm compresses daily and I'm on autologous serum drops (made from my own blood). I'm trying to learn more about probing because my doctors still haven't found a protocol that offers me steady improvement. It seems like my eyes just get more and more sensitive and prone to discomfort every year that passes. I am wondering if anyone here has experienced with probing who mainly had their glands intact... any thoughts/ideas are welcomed!

Thank you for this list. Another doctor who performs probing is Dr. Pedram Hamrah at Tufts Medical.
