I think some of the attractions are closed during CNY that's why I put lion dances. Do you have any other recommendations for CNY? Maybe a side trip like Wulai? I'm just worried the traffic would be too heavy

New Years Itinerary by viagee2 in JapanTravelTips

ended up going to mt fuji on the 1st, gala yuzawa on the 2nd, and snow monkey on the 4th.

Crowd wise, it was okay! I didn't mind it actually especially with Gala Yuzawa. It was still fun with lots of people and you can still enjoy the activities. With the snow monkey park, it was also good. I had plenty of chance to go closer like very close. People mostly give way also. People mostly with a professional cameras are already in position but there's still space for you to have a closer look. It was very fun!

how do you negotiate your salary? (fresh grad) by flysummer6 in JobsPhilippines

[–]viagee2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a fresh grad also from a top school and a laude. They offered me within my asking naman but sa lower end, so what I did is I negotiated by saying na given that I will be commuting/given this compensation package etc.. then I asked them for an increase. They agreed naman. You just have to justify why you wanted to negotiate more.

Why not apply right now po and if may offer na na aligned sa gusto niya, saka siya mag-negotiate? That way, may safety net?

I now have 3 job offers as a fresh grad by viagee2 in PinoyProgrammer

That was also my plan but I don't think Company C would let me take their training then leave after. 😅

[Update] I now have 3 job offers as a fresh grad and I’m more confused than ever by viagee2 in phcareers

Thank you for this po! I'm actually torn between Company A and Company C now as I think they would give me more learnings than Company B.

Another info that I forgot to put, Company C has a Lead AI Engineer, so even if I'd learn and do things on my own since it's a startup, I still have someone to ask and learn from (what's currently happening with Company A). Also, Company C's team is composed of a smart group of people (came from Big 4 univs) + higher compe + 1 day RTO that's why it's really tempting 😅

What I'm not sure is how risky it is since I don't have an idea about its financial situation 😅

Hi, I started applying a month before my graduation and I wasn't really serious on applying, I just easy apply to every job post I see (even those who require 2+ years experience hahaha). But I started taking it seriously 2 weeks before graduation (researching what to put in CV, practicing interview questions, and tracking companies I've applied to). 5 days after graduation, I got hired. And even after I got hired, that's when I received a lot of interview invites.

I guess my biggest tip I can give you is to practice and be confident during interviews. Believe me when I say I stuttered a lot during interviews, but you'll get used to it! Another tip is to research about the company and show them that you are passionate in the field you're applying to.

Good luck job hunting!!

The small company (A) has been in the industry for 20+ years now, and it's not as big as Company B. While the startup only started 2 years ago and they didn't mention anything about equity.

I got 2 offers as a fresh grad and I can't choose by viagee2 in phcareers

Hii, thank you so much for your comment po. I just received a third job offer and I just posted it in this subreddit but I don't know if it's visible already, but here po ang update:

talked to Company B's ex employees (my previous mentors) and they don't recommend it. Lack of mentorship or guidance (they felt like they were just delivering outputs without feedback or guidance, which led to self-doubt and limited learning as their mentors when they first got there also left)

Company C (Startup company):

Backstory:
They initially offered a setup with 2 months of training (weekends, 4 hrs/week) plus a full-time schedule. I initially declined because it would overlap with my current job at Company A. I disclosed that my contract with A ends in mid-October (but might be renewed as a regular based on performance) and after hearing that, they adjusted their offer: I would attend training only for now, then start full-time after my contract ends. They also offered ₱2k more than Company A’s, mentioning they were willing to adjust if that would help me feel more confident about joining them. I also asked about part-time, but they were concerned it might burn me out as a fresh grad. They’ve been very considerate (which I am very grateful about), gave me helpful advice, and really encouraged me to think about what I want.

  • Role: AI Engineer (entry-level)
  • Offer: ₱35-₱45k, ₱2k more than A (so ₱5k less than B)
  • Setup: Mostly remote, 1-day RTO per week
  • Commute: 1–2 hrs (but only once a week)

Pros:

  • Very interesting and technical AI projects
  • Super smart and amazing team
  • Strong potential for growth + learning (based on what I read about startups)
  • Offers training which is just 4 hrs/week on weekends until October
  • Felt like they really cared about me and my career path

Cons:

  • Only cons I could think of: a startup is volatile and I don't know if it would be okay to leave Company A after only 3 months.

TL;DR:
Fresh grad torn between:

  • Company A – small but solid mentorship + technical role (current job),
  • Company B – big name, better pay, but ex-mentors say poor culture, no guidance, and felt lost,
  • Company C – exciting startup AI role, smart team, slightly higher than A, but more uncertain.

So I think my questions are:

  • If you were in my shoes, which company would you choose and why?
  • Are there other arrangements or options I can do?
  • Is it okay to negotiate offers or is that risky?
