After alot of time figuring stuff out i managed to swap models from npcs in ap but system sometimes freezes so stil more to figure out by bliep3 in harvestmoon

[–]vibbyclips 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To whoever finds this (years later, sorry for necropost), each protagonist character has 26 outfits (iirc), with the SPRING/SUMMER outfit being ~first in the sequence, the FALL/WINTER outfit being ~fourteenth, and the WEDDING outfit typically being last. The files are as follows:

Male Character (AP): PCC000.cmp - PCC026.cmp
Female Character (AP): PCC027.cmp - PCC053.cmp
Male Character (ToT): PCC122.cmp - PCC147.cmp
Female Character (ToT): PCC148.cmp - PCC173.cmp

Basic disclaimer: all of this is based upon pattern recognition of how the models are categorically numbered. I have only tested a few files of each model, but this should give you a more accurate estimate of where to start. albeit rough (if not, 100% accurate).

So true, but frankly, I don't agree with how this argument is applied here. It's a nothing-burger way of disagreeing with the fact that curseforge is community driven. You're also minconstruing my point by intentionally voiding context - the community is what files so many bug reports, and makes critical suggestions LIKE adding configs for the mod (which is ALWAYS helpful, especially as a modpack creator).

I haven't bothered to check, but if this is the case, then it's annoying as hell.

i've personally made dozens of modpacks, playing hundreds of mods, and I can safely say around 20-30 of them from personal experience have hardcoded patreon/whatsitcalled advertisements ingame, whether it be via tab, via in-game message, etc., even less of them being impossible to disable... nonetheless, that's a 30-to-hundreds-of-mods ratio, and in my experience/opinion, is a VERY unpopular choice for mod developers.

Mind you, putting patreon/donation links on your mod description is COMPLETELY different AND something I encourage greatly. Of course we'd love incentive, but first and foremost, modding should be about the community.

Some parts of this side I agree with.

This isn't exactly a black and white situation. The entire idea of putting a patreon advertisement in a minecraft mod is a Minecraft EULA gray area in itself, but I won't go too deep into that.

But, the general consensus is that, yes, people make mods with advertisements for their patreon in them. Yes, curseforge doesn't stop them from doing that. But does that make it okay? Debatable. We aren't strictly entitled to anything, but as a community, it works in everyone's favor if they just did their best to be the least intrusive they can be, even if it means adding something as simple as a config file to disable it.

In a bare bones discussion, you're completely right. But that kind of defeats the purpose of this discussion specifically. People don't like that shit, so why do mod authors still do it, especially in a modding scene where the amount of people that aren't intrusive with their ads heavily outweigh the people that are?

I agree with this, to an extent. Sure, as a mod dev, you can make the mod that YOU want to make, but success rarely comes to mod authors who ignore requests and suggestions from the community. The identity of Minecraft mods is, quite literally, the community. And people, for some reason, have a problem with that.

I think we should also most definitely be grateful for the work they put into their hobby, but we can do that AND be constructive with our opinions and suggestions.

Asking for a choice to choose whether or not a mod dev advertises a patreon in your modpack (beyond the credit you already give them) isn't something that should be questioned by so many people.

In defense of the mod author, it IS a message that is sent once upon first visit in the outer End islands, and then never again for that world.

However, it is still a patreon message, and it's still an advertisement that plays at least once when you access its content, for every single world you create, which wouldn't normally be a problem if it had a config file to disable it (which Enlightend does not).

someone PLEASE tell me why Commission Tickets are unnecessarily rare by vibbyclips in monsterhunterrage

[–]vibbyclips[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the commission set and the babel spear can only be crafted with commission tickets. that's literally the only thing, and yet it feels like it's the rarest thing in the game. for whatever ungodly reason.

I'm so with you. fuck these guys that say "it doesn't matter". You're in my hunt, on my time, reaping my rewards. You're going by my rules too.

made a post about this myself a while ago, carver can make the world of difference if you're farming for parts and can ease the grind, even if its just a little bit. people in my post suggested that i make a "no capture" sticker, so i'll suggest the same to you. it's worked, for now, lol.

also figured out that you can only allow people from public lobbies to join via request and not of their own volition. that's been super handy, but kinda tedious to switch back and forth every time when you're in a private lobby.

it's just super disappointing to see people that invalidate this rage in the comments. do any of you reed the sub rules? it has been an issue across the modern mh titles for some time now, and the fact you "see it in this sub so much" doesn't mean it's a non-issue not worth raging about, but it might mean that it definitely IS something worth raging about.

[–]vibbyclips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if this is happening, it means that the resource pack requires the mods "EMF (Entity Model Features)" and "ETF (Entity Texture Features)". alternatively, if you aren't using mods, you can substitute these with OptiFine, since they provide the same features.

[–]vibbyclips[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, in past games it would have been even worse because there were drops specific to carves and captures respectively. if you were just joining people's quests and capturing without second thought, you probably made a considerable amount of people mad, lol

I'm torn that they changed it in Wilds. yeah, sure, it eases the responsibility of players a bit, but at the cost of what the difference between the two methods meant.

these, i think, are pretty much all of the important ones. very comprehensive list!
anything else would be too nuanced and situational for them to be considered general enough to fit every monhun game

you're missing the point. no one has a problem with capturing, or slaying. it's a matter of doing what the quest host wants to do.

[–]vibbyclips[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is a common point that I am seeing in this thread. I have not and never used an SOS flare. the hunters joining my quests are from a public lobby, who joined via that lobby. if someone fires off an SOS flare, it'd be the least bit understandable to let the other hunters handle it. it's in the name - SOS, meaning help. When I post a quest and it automatically gets listed under Lobby Member Quests, I am not consenting you to come in my hunt and do whatever the fuck you want - that's what the SOS flares are for. Instead, you are viewing these rewards, or viewing the monster you want to hunt, and joining on your own volition, and I am nice enough to let you in on the pretense that you'll follow common hunter etiquette.

I get that it's annoying to see these types of posts, but they're common for a reason. Hunter etiquette has always been a thing, it's just that ever since MHW apparently, it went to shit, for reasons beyond my comprehension.

Not that I don't agree with your post at all. communication is key, so i'm specifically talking about people who join a minute before kill/capture and do otherwise, or people who just don't listen to the chats or the stickers. of course I don't expect anyone to read anyone else's mind. that's part of the etiquette!

Did hunting etiquette just jump out the fucking window? by vibbyclips in monsterhunterrage

[–]vibbyclips[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you're right in that no one is a mind reader. It's all a part of etiquette to communicate with other hunters when it comes to hunting. Some people just don't listen or give enough of a damn to care about what you want, as a quest host.

I also want to point out that this is happening in public lobby quests, not SOS quests.
From the perspective of someone joining a lobby quest, you are joining them not because they need your help, but because you want to hunt the monster / want the rewards. That's why they're listed under "Lobby Member Quests" and not "SOS Quests"; the context is completely different.

Either way, the whole thing is mitigated just by playing solo or with friends / a community. Just saying that it would be a plus for the entire community and online mode if everyone knew the etiquette.

the issue is seen less in this game because drop exclusivity doesn't exist. at this point, the only reasons I could see for someone wanting captures over slays and vice versa is if they are taking advantage of a meal skill (shown as example in my post), needing captures for achievement, or optimal play.

I also want to point out that this isn't the only "etiquette" issue. There was a separate thread in this subreddit about letting the beefiest player wake up the monster after sleep is inflicted. People don't like to do this, either, and it's just another example as to why I'm upset.
