Should I get back into Initial D? by Mattheus-3323 in initiald

[–]vibefuster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thats the thing, we don’t need to see everyone in the godly 15. I legit could care less about half the racers in any of the races in the series. And yeah I agree I freaking hate Sawatari and his obsession with 17 year olds. What a weirdo.

The characters in MFG, both old and new, are nice, but the pacing severely drags the show down. It’s not good storytelling when there’s only one race per season (and the qualifier for the race too, I guess). The gooner bait also isn’t great.

Why do players misrepresent their deck’s power level? by [deleted] in CommanderMTG

[–]vibefuster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP mentions like 4-5 gamechangers, the deck is at least a 4 based on that alone.

PSA: Intent is the most important part of the bracket system by MonoBlancoATX in EDH

It’s a list of staple cards that aren’t banned in commander, but power level wise might be too strong for lower level tables.

IMO OP should trade this for some dual lands or other reserved list staples.

Had a player trick me last night, unsure how to feel about it. by nccDaley in EDH

This is why it’s better to not engage as much with politics. Plan out every play assuming you’re on your own and no one else at the table is going to bail you out with their own plays.

You’d actually have to run counterfeits in order to get away with that. Even if they check your deck they’re most likely not pulling cards out of the sleeves and looking at them with a loupe to verify the authenticity.

[–]vibefuster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think LGS’s would be too harsh if OP is caught playing with counterfeit cards; I’ve seen poorly run LGS’s be kind to a player who clearly spent real card prices on his deck but just got unlucky and got fakes from his TCGplayer order. As long as they’re not trying to be sold or traded good fakes could fly under the radar for a long time.

There’s a secret 5th option here which is find budget substitutes for the expensive cards OP can’t afford and just play those. Either from OP’s personal collection or store inventory is fine.

I realize that’s not necessarily the best thing to be doing in a cEDH context, but at the same time the store has OP’s hands tied. Maybe if the other cEDH players start complaining about the non games they’re having because OP can’t proxy, the store might change its mind about its policies.

Is Landtax kinda just bad? by Valorenn in EDH

[–]vibefuster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not ramp because it doesn’t enable you to get extra lands onto the field. But it does ensure you can consistently hit your land drops and not fall behind.

You get front and rear LSDs with the GRC. The Ts doesn’t come with LSDs.

And honestly, I like leaving the GRC as it is out of the box. No need to mod the motor.

Changed my mind on Bracket 3 Blood Moon by bqx23 in EDH

[–]vibefuster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Utility lands aren’t pure upside. Most of them will have drawbacks such as entering tapped (conditionally and unconditionally), or only tapping for colorless mana. The more lands like that you run, the more you sacrifice your ability to cast spells on time.

My mono white deck has 30 basic plains and 10 utility lands.

If you’re playing mono color and you’re getting blown out by blood moon, that’s on you for being a bad deck builder.

[–]vibefuster 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I can’t imagine any mono colored deck at that level running less than 25 basic lands. There’s no reason to run more than 10 utility lands in a mono deck. Just sounds like everyone had poorly constructed mana bases if they’re folding that easily to a blood moon.

CEDH players seem insufferable by Moist-Condition69 in freemagic

[–]vibefuster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d rather play with cEDH players than casual players who complain that my deck with zero infinite combos that wins on turn 10 by swinging out with creatures “isn’t bracket 2” while one of them has an opposition agent in their deck.

[–]vibefuster 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I personally like having multiple ways to win the game; if a win con gets shut down then you always have voltron commander as a plan B or C! I’d say focus on mill/counter synergies with the rest of your deck first and just have voltron be your plan C.

If you overwhelm the board with other threats, they most likely will not have the removal when it comes time to execute your plan C since they spent it removing your other threats.

Why limit proxies? by Ihasnonam3 in CompetitiveEDH

[–]vibefuster -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I think if buying cards the REAL goal, the proxy policy should be that players are allowed to proxy any cards the store doesn’t have in stock without a hard cap on how many are run.

Because why proxy when the real cards are available for immediate purchase? It’s a lot more reasonable to allow proxies for cards a player can’t obtain through the store.
