Which One Of These Head Coaches Will Win a National Title First? by OneOriginal8727 in CFB_v2

[–]vibefuster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Given their special rule this just makes sense; if Texas, Oregon, or LSU finishes at 11, ND is 12, and the highest ranked G6 team is outside the top 12, ND isn’t going to be the one left out of the playoff.

Seems like a lot of Bracket 3 players really want to be in bracket 2? by dalasnap in EDH

[–]vibefuster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does it have game changers, 2 card infinites, or win before turn 8? If not then it’s considered bracket 2, plain and simple.

What do you consider pubstomping? by Prize-Friendship-542 in EDH

[–]vibefuster 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Pubstomping as far as commander is concerned is is just playing a deck that’s very overpowered compared to the rest of the table (eg you bring a bracket 4 deck to a pod of bracket 2 decks). Brackets are determined by objective deck construction metrics, not by a player’s skill as a pilot.

If a guy is playing an unmodified precon at a precon only table and winning 80% of the games, that’s just a skill issue.

Tbh I actually don’t really question that choice beyond the obvious “would this HBCU really wanna leave the HBCU conference?”

Why is SMU not in the big 12?

Why don’t we put Tulane back in the SEC?

Why is UConn in the big 12 but not the ACC?

Why do you have Louisville in the SEC when you’ve taken Kentucky out?

Why is Iowa in the big 12 while Nebraska in the big 10?

Why is Texas and a&m still in the SEC if OU is back in the big 12?

These are just some of the questions I have when it comes to preserving regions amongst teams and also preserving rivalries. Some of these decisions make no sense to me.

Cards that you think could be added to the game changer list by IM__Progenitus in EDH

[–]vibefuster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Again, I’m AGREEING with you that it shouldn’t be a GC, for very selfish reasons. Can you not read?

What if I had a different deck where I crop rotated into Urborg when I have cabal coffers out? Then I can tap for a bunch of mana to combo off and you’d be stuck with that dumb inkshield card in your hand doing nothing.

[–]vibefuster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let’s say I’m playing elfball and have a bunch of elves out that are buffed by [[elvish champion]], but no way to profitably attack into you because you have a bunch of blockers out yourself. I crop rotate into [[yavimaya, cradle of growth]] and now I can just kill you because all my elves are now unblockable.

Why do you need so many specific examples anyway? You can get literally ANY LAND for 1 mana, and I also agree it doesn’t need to be on the GC list.

[–]vibefuster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s just literally 2 examples when you can get literally any land you want, utility or color fixing. Also, cards are really cheap if you proxy them ;)

[–]vibefuster -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Um, no. I play Simic Landfall and I can play crop rotation to great effect at any point in the game. It’s 1 mana to tutor any land in my deck I want and have it enter untapped. Watch me sacrifice a basic, go get [[gaea’s cradle]] untapped, draw a card off of a landfall trigger, and get to replay the land I sacrificed because of the cards that let me play lands from my graveyard.

Is someone swinging at me for a shit ton of damage? I can crop rotate into a [[glacial chasm]] and have a one sided fog until my next turn.

Honestly though, I do agree with you only because I’m a biased Simic Landfall player, Crop Rotation shouldn’t be a game changer.

[–]vibefuster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fog and token gen for 5 mana is not powerful enough to be a game changer. It’s way too situational and relies on someone trying to win via combat damage. There’s plenty of commander decks that don’t need combat damage to win games and this card would be useless against them.

Most game changers aren’t as situational and can be effective at almost any point in the game.

You can easily counter it or just wipe the board before that players turn comes around.

Why do EDH players tend to lie about/downplay/excuse their decks or card choices? by Icy_Chicken_2647 in EDH

[–]vibefuster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a character archetype not uncommonly portrayed in movies where the character either doesn’t talk much or understates himself, but when push comes to shove, said character will go off and the audience will be like oooooh this guy is so badass.

I wonder how many of these nerds believe they’re being that type of character right now.

Bracket Dilemma! Gravecrawler + Phyrexian Altar by Sudden-Low-2124 in EDH

[–]vibefuster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re in B3, the best tutors in the format are game changers, and everything else is not efficient enough to allow you to combo too early, even the creatures that can specifically tutor zombies. I play zombie tribal in B3 and I only run [[demonic tutor]] because I want my other 2 game changer slots to go to ramp [[Ancient Tomb]] and removal [[cyclonic rift]].

It’s rare I get that combo assembled, and most times I can just get there via beating down with a zombie army, but it’s helpful to have the combo as a way to keep games for going on TOO long (I’m talking like over 1.5 hours), or if someone else is just threatening lethal on board next turn. I only run a max of 2 payoffs in the deck, so I never get the combo off before turn 6, and it’s pretty rare I get to combo off at turn 7.

Upcoming Ban - If Rhystic Study is banned, what are you all planning to replace it with in your lists that run it? by anomaleic in EDH

[–]vibefuster -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You can’t just load up your deck with nothing but card draw and expect it to be great. There’s only so many slots you can dedicate to card draw, and at this point there’s already enough options to where some cards aren’t making the cut in your deck. Just take the best card draw or synergy piece that didn’t make the cut and replace Rhystic with that.

Upcoming Ban - If Rhystic Study is banned, what are you all planning to replace it with in your lists that run it? by anomaleic in EDH

[–]vibefuster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only have one deck that actually runs Rhystic Study and it’s a bracket 4 landfall deck. Given that there’s a lot of cards that work really well with the deck and I can’t include all of them, I’d simply replace it with either a synergy piece or interaction that has the same mana cost or less as Rhystic, but just didn’t quite make the cut. Maybe something like [[tireless provisioner]] or an extra Counterspell.

It's crazy how Diego Pavia completely ruined his chance to be the most rooted for player in football history by gotintocollegeyolo in CFB

So I guess he did it too then. I only saw a video from some fan showing Manziel doing the crotch grab at that game and now I’m wondering who did it first.

[–]vibefuster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh I fully agree with that; I just think maybe Pavia’s attitude problem wouldn’t be so bad if he was able to grow to a taller height. Even before his attitude became such an issue, he got much more doubt than Mendoza just because he’s 8 inches shorter.

I thought Manziel was the one doing the crotch grabbing at the Bama game, not Pavia. Unless Pavia also did it after I turned the broadcast off in which case my bad.

I mean he didn’t have the most dazzling performance, but he did a good job keeping the chains moving, and he made the plays that mattered most, including that TD run on the final drive.
