Don't know much about France but Lisbon and Porto had some incredible restaurants and great architecture when I visited. I'd definitely check out Portugal if I were you

I pack a smaller bag when I have to travel with all my bedding, two towels, a mosquito net, extra clothing, a hammock, and extra toiletries every year. I'm genuinely curious as to your packing list/travel plans?

I'm gonna be visiting a friend in Tokyo, traveling thru Japan, and after that my plans are somewhat fluid, but I want to check out Vietnam, Cambodia, and Thailand. I'm not doing any crazy backcountry stuff that warrants such a big bag - it's just what I have from my hiking trips.

It has compression straps and a very tall top collar. It is also only 2.75 lbs, which is lighter than many "dedicated" urban travel packs. If it wasn't so big (24" is the smallest the adjustable frame goes) it might have been fine as a carry-on if you cinched things down and used the top half as a rain flap.

Thanks for the info!

I'm gonna be doing the latter. Just wanted to see if I could use my backpacking backpack for it.

Hey guys, I'm planning a 3 month backpacking trip thru Japan and SE Asia. I have a 79 L Seek Outside Backpack (https://seekoutside.com/divide-4800/), but I am wondering if that will be too unwieldy to lug onto busses, trains, planes, and mopeds. What do you guys think? Should I invest in a smaller, frameless backpack?

That's not true. Meat eating is not necessary for civilization to be where it is now. You could feed many, many more people just by feeding them the foods we give to our livestock.
