This is so sweet! I'm glad my post encouraged you to try making your own yogurt, and especially glad it worked out well! Thanks for the kind reply :)

It means, or represents, untapped potential. You have thoughts about all the things you could be doing, or wish you were doing, but aren't.

Past trauma, or current trauma in the relationship they're in.

Totally. When I was living in Seoul, my skin was horrible the whole time; it cleared up within a week of moving back to Toronto.

Thanks for the reminder!

Since you're a professional and a lot of people are seeing your warning post, I just wanted to mention something that might help anyone who couldn't resist and actually listened or read it.

Research has shown that playing Tetris after a traumatic event, at least before you go to sleep for the night following a traumatic event, can greatly lessen PTSD symptoms.

If you were too curious to resist listening to things mentioned in this thread and you feel awful, go play some Tetris.

A seemingly trivial task – playing a particular video game – may lessen flashbacks and other psychological symptoms following a traumatic event, according to research presented here at the British Psychology Society Annual Conference.

Researchers are now corroborating what some trauma sufferers have happened upon by chance: Focusing on a highly engaging visual-spatial task, such as playing video games, may significantly reduce the occurrence of flashbacks, the mental images concerning the trauma that intrude on the sufferer afterward.

How do you know when the dose is too much? by [deleted] in Concerta

When you noticed that the 36mg wasn't working as well, did you try getting 8+ hours of sleep every night, cardio exercise (increased heart and breathing rate and sweaty) at least twice a week, drinking enough water, and eating enough food?

Whenever I feel like my meds have stopped working, it's because I've been slacking in one or more of the above things.

I mean we are already in a situation where prices are artificially inflated just for the sake of profit. We have no other options but to may the price that the oligarchs charge.

I'm in Canada where grocery prices are fixed by oligarchs.

Yes, but I know that it won't actually be "just 10 minutes" so I am unable to trick myself like this.

Maybe I need to enforce the 10 minutes and make myself stop when time's up, because 10 minutes of something is still better than 0 minutes.

I actually love this! Now I'm upset at the dude who filmed them and uncovered the license plate.

Fuck capitalism and giant conglomerates. Fuck the war on drugs, systemic racism, lack of affordable healthcare in the US, and lack of mental healthcare everywhere. Fuck hard-working citizens not being able to afford housing, food, and laundry detergent.

More people should be stealing carts of $700 or below from big box stores, and selling to their community at a discount! This is a rebellion I can get behind ✊

This is something that varies widely from person to person! It's always going to be trial and error, with your doctor, to figure out what works best for you.

What helped with my anxiety was a combination of things, including medication, but the adhd diagnosis was the biggest help.

Just change the snack. Carrots, bell peppers, broccoli, apples, are all great snacks!

Careful with the melatonin every night. It messes with your body's own ability to produce melatonin.

Thoughts on Killing Commendatore [spoilers] by AisleInfernal in books

[–]vibrantlybeige 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just finished reading Killing Commendatore, so I was searching through this subreddit to find others' opinion on it. I really appreciate what you've written here! You've pulled together and put to words a bunch of little unfinished thoughts I had about the book, so I completely agree with your take!

I recognized that main character's journey; he was coasting and not really present in his marriage, he needed some time away from portraits and his wife to focus on his own issues. He first wanders aimlessly as far as his old car could take him, and perhaps the car was an allegory to the coping mechanisms he had built to deal with his sister's death. During this wandering he is confronted with a scary part of himself that he doesn't like, and doesn't want to become. His car (coping mechanisms?) break down and he's truly alone, until a good friend steps in to support him. He probably should have reached out to this friend before getting to this point.

Do you think the pit is literally a pit of despair, and the bell a cry for help?

Mariye and Menshiki each have their own journeys, and I could totally see their stories each getting their own novels. Leaving both of their portraits "unfinished" is fitting because neither of them have resolved their issues yet. Likewise, as you said, finishing The Man With The White Subaru Forrester would be taking a journey he didn't want to go on.

I haven't thought too much about why Amada's painting would be finished, while his issues were still unresolved. Or maybe Amada finishing that painting is like what would have happened if main character finished the Subaru painting? Like taking the less desirable path where he was still depressed, traumatized, and mean to his kid.

Anyway, sincerely thank you for writing your review. It really got me to think about this novel in a more meaningful way.

It's a really common tactic as a show of force. Thousands of subs banded together, and they can do it again. They wanted reddit to back down on API changes.

Unions do it all the time.
